The Department of EEE, in association with IQAC, City University successfully organized a seminar titled “Energy Security in Bangladesh: Challenges and the Role of BERC” on Friday, 24 April at the university auditorium.

The seminar was delivered by Prof. Dr. Syeda Sultana Razia, Member of the Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) and Professor at Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET). In her talk, she highlighted the current challenges of energy security in Bangladesh, including supply constraints, pricing issues, and dependency on imported energy. She emphasized the importance of effective regulation, sustainable energy planning, and the gradual transition toward renewable energy to ensure long-term stability.

The program was graced by Chief Guest Brigadier General Professor Dr. Engr. Md. Lutfor Rahman (Retd), Vice Chancellor of City University. Special guests included Prof. Dr. Kazi Shahdat Kabir, Pro Vice Chancellor, and Lt Col M M Golam Mohaimen (Retd), Registrar of the university. The session was chaired by Dr. Engr. Fouzia Ferdous, Professor and Head of the Department of EEE.

Faculty members and a large number of students were present and actively participated in the seminar, making it an engaging and insightful academic event. The session concluded with a closing speech by the session chair, who stressed the importance of awareness, research, and innovation in addressing future energy challenges in Banglades.

The faculty members of the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) at City University successfully organized and participated in a departmental tour from Dhaka to Cox’s Bazar and back to Dhaka, held from 13–16 April 2026.

This tour was exclusively arranged for the faculty, aiming to foster professional bonding, mutual understanding, and relaxation beyond the academic environment. Set against the scenic beauty of the world’s longest natural sea beach, the program offered a refreshing escape and strengthened collegial relationships among the participants.

Finally, the tour was much more than just sightseeing—it was full of adventure, entertainment, and memorable experiences.
