National Institute of Textile Engineering and Research (NITER) - জাতীয় বস্ত্র প্রকৌশল ও গবেষণা ইন্সটিটিউট (নিটার) is the first venture of Public-Private-Partnership education and research institute that originally evolved from Textile Industry Development Center (TIDC) set by Bangladesh Government to provide technical support to textile industries. With a view to expand its activities to fully ac
ademic and research area, it was handed over to the operational management of Bangladesh Textile Mills Association (BTMA) in May, 2009. Since then it is being run by a 13-member Governing Body constituted by Ministry of Textiles & Jute, Govt. of Bangladesh with President of BTMA as Chairman and Members from concerned Public and Private Sector organizations. Bangladesh Textile Mills Association (BTMA) is the national trade organization of Primary Textile Industry i.e. Yarn Manufacturing, Fabric Manufacturing and Dyeing-Printing-Finishing industries of the country under private sector and was registered in 1983. Currently BTMA encapsulates 1409 Yarn Manufacturing, Fabric Manufacturing and Wet Processing Industries with employment creation of over four million people. According to World Trade Organization, Bangladesh has emerged as the second largest RMG exporter in the world and in 2011-2012, our earnings from this sector was over $20.13 billion accounting for about 78% of total export earnings. This year, in July 2013 our apparel sector witnessed a robust growth of more than 26 percent. Members of BTMA and our Government feel that to make this sector more competitive and sustainable, we need more mid to top level efficient manpower and NITER is the result of that view. The present management of NITER, with active support of the Ministry of Textiles and Jute, Government of Bangladesh has decided to provide quality textile education and training, undertake research and other promotional services as required by the textile sector of the country and we are working together to ensure the goal. NITER is located on around 14 acres of land with a built up area of 129,995 square feet at Nayarhat of Savar, on the Dhaka-Aricha highway and enjoys excellent communication facilities connecting Dhaka and other important cities and towns of the country. We believe that you will be pleased with its educational and natural environment in any aspect.
