💡 This year, Hack The Government brought together a unique community of ethical hackers, students, and cybersecurity professionals committed to strengthening the digital resilience of Belgium’s public services. 🇧🇪🔐

Over the course of two weeks, 71 participants tested the security of key federal institutions, uncovering vulnerabilities and reporting them responsibly under the Coordinated Vulnerability Disclosure (CVD) framework. Their work highlights the growing maturity of Belgium’s ethical hacking ecosystem and the critical role of collaboration in cybersecurity. 🤝🛡️

💥 Final hour of Day 2 — Attack & Defense! 🔥
We’re in the thick of it: Day 2 is all about Attack & Defense. At the start, every team received a virtual machine full of vulnerable services — and had 1 hour of prep to scout what’s inside. Then, once the competition network went live, it was game on. ⚙️⚡

Teams must do three things — simultaneously:
▪️Attack other teams (find and exploit their weak services). 🕵️‍♂️💥
▪️Patch your own systems (deploy fixes/updates so your services don’t get owned). 🔧🛡️
▪️Keep your services running (make sure everything stays up and functional). 🟢🔁

The match runs in fast-paced two-minute turns: every two minutes you launch attacks, check your defenses, and confirm your services are still live. It’s a frantic dance of offense, defense, and stability — pure CTF adrenaline. ⚔️⏱️
Team Belgium — you’ve got this. Let’s push through these final minutes and finish strong! 🇧🇪💪

💥 Let’s go Belgium! 💛❤️🖤
Yesterday, teams from all across Europe faced off in the Jeopardy challenges — testing their brains in crypto, reverse engineering, and flag decryption missions! 💻🧠
Each team received the same set of mind-bending puzzles: find the hidden flag, crack the code, and climb the leaderboard. 🏆 No head-to-head battles — just pure skill, logic, and speed in this classic Capture The Flag format! ⚡
The competition is heating up, and Team Belgium is in the game! 🔥🇧🇪

🇧🇪 The Belgian team is all set up. Computers, cables and, most importantly, supplies (energy drinks, water, snacks) – everything is ready for the first day of competition. This morning, it was also time to double-check everything with the coach, who is always there for the young talents to make sure they have everything they need. 🤯😎

All that remains is for us to cheer on the Belgian team and wish them strength and courage, but above all, lots of fun! Go Belgium! 🖤💛❤️💪🏼

✈️The adventure began on Sunday for our Red Daemons. The Belgian team flew from Brussels to Warsaw to compete in the European Cybersecurity Challenge (ECSC). Today, they have a few hours to explore the city before heading to the event to register and start warming up before the festivities begin. 🖥️💪

Belgium’s national cyber team is set - next stop: Warsaw!
After weeks of training and a strong performance in the Compete With Team Europe CTF test event, 10 players have been selected to represent Belgium at the European Cyber Security Challenge 2025.

The Centre for Cybersecurity Belgium (CCB) coordinates the participation and provides expert coaches to prepare the team for this prestigious competition. This is an incredible opportunity for selected students to learn from the best, grow their skills, and represent Belgium on an international stage!

🇧🇪 Our Belgian Red Daemons are back home after an incredible week at the European Cyber Security Challenge (ECSC) in Turin! The team gave their all, showing determination, teamwork, and exceptional skill. While we didn’t take the top spot this year, the experience has been invaluable, and we’re already looking ahead to next year.

🌱 The ECSC provided our young talents with countless opportunities to learn, grow, and engage with the best in cybersecurity across Europe. Every challenge they faced was a step forward in sharpening their skills and expanding their knowledge.

🌍 Beyond the competition, this event was a unique opportunity for both our coaches and players to connect with like-minded cybersecurity enthusiasts from around the world. Together, we’ll continue working towards a more secure digital world! 🌐💪

🇧🇪 The Belgian Red Daemons are in Turin! This week, they are proudly representing Belgium at the European Cyber Security Challenge (ECSC), an international championship bringing together the brightest young minds in cybersecurity from across Europe and beyond.

🏆 Teams of 10 members are competing in intense Capture The Flag (CTF) challenges, where collaboration, skill, and strategic thinking are put to the test. Over the next days, these talented individuals will tackle cutting-edge cybersecurity issues to determine this year’s European champion.

At CCB, we are proud to support our Belgian Red Daemons. Our team of dedicated coaches has been working hard to prepare the Daemons, selecting the best talents and providing training to help them excel on the international stage.

To all the cyber wizards out there: put your dancing shoes on because the Cyber Security Challenge Belgium (CSCBE) reaches its 10th anniversary! 🎉

Brussels, 23 March 2024 - Boom! Another epic chapter of comes to an end, showcasing Belgium's top cybersecurity talent. With a whopping 850+ students from 38 different schools taking part, it's clear that cyber fever has caught on big time!

🏆 A big round of applause for Team Hastur from UCLouvain, who came out on top! They won some sweet prizes, including a trip to DEF CON in Las Vegas and the chance to show off their skills at the European Cyber Security Challenge 2024 in Turin, Italy. Talk about living the dream!

The Cyber Security Challenge Belgium has seen a crazy growth over the last decade, which shows just how much we're all geeking out about cybersecurity. This surge isn't just about locking down our digital playgrounds - it's about unlocking a world of exciting career opportunities in this fast-paced field.
