Climate Design / KU Leuven campus Gent & Brussel Climate as an Architectural Instrument
A design research studio that addresses the integration of climate into the architectural and urban design process.

CLIMATE DESIGN & SUSTAINABILITY
Adaptive design and planning for the era of climate change. Climate as an Architectural Instrument

Every day our climate is changing. Year after year the building and environmental legislations are also changing. The design of a building or a neighbourhood becomes a challenging process. The integration of sustainable climate concepts in the architectural design and

urban planning play hereby increasingly an essential role. This design studio addresses the integration of climate design and sustainability. Specific topics as growing scarcity of free space, energy, mobility, water and materials, are a real starting point. The aim is to achieve healthy, comfortable indoor and outdoor built environments. Luc Eeckhout, architect & urban planner

Earthen construction, once overlooked by US builders, is gaining renewed interest. With climate change heightening wildfire risks in the western US, homeowners like Glover are now considering it as a fire-resistant building strategy.

These people are rebuilding homes lost to wildfires in the western US – only this time they are using a material that they hope won't burn.

https://regenerativedesign.world/biophilic-design/ DOWNLOAD THE BOOKLET / Biophilic design is an approach to design that integrates nature into interior and exterior s**ces to create a healthier, more productive, and more enjoyable environment for occupants. This approach is inspired by the ideas and research of the renowned biologist Edward O. Wilson. Wilson’s concept of biophilia, the inherent human affinity and connection with nature, has greatly influenced the development of biophilic design. This approach recognizes the human-nature connection's importance and its benefits for physical and mental well-being.
