UPerio in Barcelona for the 11th EFP Postgraduate Student Symposium 🇪🇸
Last week, part of the UPerio team travelled to Barcelona to attend the 11th EFP Postgraduate Student Symposium, bringing together postgraduate students from universities across Europe in Periodontology and Implant Dentistry.
Francesca Pacifico, currently in her final year of the Postgraduate Program in Periodontology and Implant Dentistry, proudly represented our department with a multidisciplinary clinical case:
« Turning Non-Compliance into Periodontal Stability »
A case highlighting the importance of a comprehensive and multidisciplinary approach to achieve long-term periodontal stability.
During their stay, the team also had the opportunity to visit Dentaid’s facilities, discover their work and meet their team.
Two days of science, learning, exchange and international connections, reflecting the academic and collaborative spirit of UPerio.

Uperio team clinical case by
Severe gingival recessions in the mandibular anterior region and polyp removal.
▪️Initial situation
24-year-old female patient presenting with severe gingival recessions associated with hypersensitivity and plaque accumulation in the mandibular anterior region.
A fibro-epithelial polyp located between teeth #42 and #43 had been excised previously.
▪️Main challenge
Achieving root coverage while increasing soft tissue attachment and long-term stability.
▪️Surgical approach
Tunnel technique combined with a connective tissue graft harvested from the palate.
Tunnel was partially laterally closed.
Partial intentional graft exposure at sites #32 and #42 to promote keratinized tissue gain.
▪️Postoperative outcome
Significant increase in gingival keratinized tissue width, with complete root coverage and resolution of hypersensitivity.
