The Natural Resources Management Program of the University Of Belize is a structured but flexible program that provides students with a balance of theoretical and practical components through project-based field courses, providing training in marine and terrestrial natural resource management and opportunities to help serve the needs of the nation. NRM program goals:

Provide students with a stron

g theoretical and practical background in ecology, natural resource management and community-based conservation. Assist students to develop experience and skills in the assessment, research and management of terrestrial, coastal zone and recreational resources. Encourage professional and career development among students, exposing them to the environmental community of Belize and the region. Prepare students for advanced degree programs in the field of natural resource management. Work closely with GOB agencies, NGO's, community groups and industries involved in natural resource management, helping to address the research and service needs of the nation.

The B.Sc. degree in Natural Resources Management is a multi-disciplinary program offering concentrations in Terrestrial/Watershed Resources Management and Marine Resources Management. The program is being designed to:

- Offer up to date theory and methodology
- Present project-based field courses
- Provide environmental assessment, monitoring, rehabilitation and restoration services to communities, the nation and the region through student involvement
Promote research
- Develop students’ professional skills and experiences
- Give students the opportunity to specialize in select areas of environmental concern
- Allow students to participate in internship and apprenticeship program

As part of the Bachelor Course sequence students are required to do the course Field Methods which involves Terrestrial and Marine components during their 2nd year summer session. This course is very intensive an students get to go out in the field and experience the theoretical work that they have been thought in previous courses.

NRM Students and faculty having fun as the semester kicks off with their NRM social. NRM lecturers introduce themselves to the new cohorts of the NRM program while bachelor students interact and act as mentors to them in an effort to guide them through the program. It was a great occassion for associate and bachelor NRM students to meet each other and interact with their lecturers.
