We’re always here to support you, but part of supporting students is being honest about what it really takes to start a new career.
Here are 5 things you should know before going back to school:
1. A career change takes commitment.
Going back to school while balancing work, family, and everyday life isn’t always easy. There will be busy days and challenging moments. But having a clear goal and staying consistent can make a big difference.
2. You shouldn’t choose a program just because it sounds good.
Think about where you want your career to go. Look at the program, the skills you’ll gain, the practicum, and what the career path actually looks like before making your decision.
3. Waiting for the “perfect” time can keep you stuck.
There will probably never be a perfect time to go back to school. Instead of waiting for everything to line up, start by researching your options and making a realistic plan.
4. Financial support is worth looking into.
Don’t automatically assume school is out of reach financially. Depending on your situation, you may have access to student aid, grants, scholarships, or other funding options.
5. A certificate or diploma is not a shortcut to success.
Your education is a starting point. You still have to put in the work, build your skills, complete your practicum, and show up for your future career.
We won’t tell you what you want to hear.
We’ll help you understand your options so you can make an informed decision about your future.
