Student for a Day was a success 🎉

High school students from across the city joined us at main campus to experience life as a Werklund student. From sitting in on a sample class to taking part in hands-on activities, students had the opportunity to explore what studying education at Werklund is all about.

A big thank you to our BEd students, faculty and staff for welcoming and guiding these enthusiastic future educators!

📍Glasgow, Scotland. That's where Werklund student Emma Ly is getting hands-on teaching experience in her final year of her Education and Kinesiology concurrent degree.

Teaching Across Borders (TAB) gives students exposure to education around the world, creating a greater awareness and appreciation of diversity and global understanding.

TAB applications for Fall 2027 open in November. For more info, visit the link in our bio ⬆️

On National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, Kokum Calls You… brought the community together to honour respected Elders and Knowledge Keepers in the spirit of building connections between Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples.

We’re grateful to the UCalgary Students’ Union for their support through the Quality Money grant, and to everyone whose time, care, and contributions helped make this gathering possible.

Most of all, thank you to everyone who joined and helped make this gathering so special 🧡

“I want to feel supported in who I am as a First Nations athlete while being able to stand under the national anthem and Canadian flag, too."

For Werklund student and Dinos athlete Courtney Webber, advocacy for Indigenous representation has helped bring meaningful change to the Jack Simpson Gymnasium. The space now displays eight flags representing the Treaty 7 Nations and Métis Nation.
