To Learn. To Grow. To Build a Better World.
These words embody the ongoing work of MHPSD. MHPSD is an integrated learning community where each of us has the opportunity to learn in our own way and grow every day. It is our collective responsibility to guide all of our students to make a better 21st century world whilst navigating the various challenges that emerge each day.
So, what am I committed to doing?
• I am a committed to life-long learning as demonstrated by a very recent PhD, focused on original research in incorporating creative thinking and decision-making into all we do in any realm of work and life. I am grateful for the help in this work from Indigenous
Ways of knowing.
• I am committed to trying to help our School Division to lead rather than to follow.
• I am committed to being a steward of the Division, dedicated to ethical values that embody the responsible planning and management of resources and practices.
• I am committed to listening to student input in decision making – these students need a voice in their education. The Student Senate (high school students that attend all Board meetings – thank you Ricky Hildebrand!) has become invaluable to providing input to the Board on important decisions.
• I am committed to being a member of a Board that always operates with empathy, compassion, good manners, and understanding - even when members do not agree.
• I am committed to helping to keep local decisions made at a local level - despite increasing Provincial Government over-reach.
• I am committed to local, regional, and global research into the best educational practices from which we can learn.
