For more than 10 years, the Rotary Club of Edmonton West has been honoured to be part of the Boyle Street Thanksgiving celebration.

Each year, we are grateful for the opportunity to welcome members of the Boyle Street community, share a delicious Thanksgiving meal, and help create a warm and welcoming day for everyone. 🍂🦃

The incredible staff at Boyle Street work so hard to make this event special, and we are so thankful for their dedication and compassion.

A heartfelt thank you to all of our amazing volunteers who generously give their time, energy and kindness. Your willingness to serve and connect with the community is what makes days like this so meaningful. ❤️

We are proud to be part of this wonderful Thanksgiving tradition and look forward to many more years of giving back together.

🍂🧤 **Giving Back, One Kilometre at a Time!** 🧤🍂

What a glorious fall day to get outside and give back to our community! ☀️🍁 Members of the Rotary Club of Edmonton West, along with our Friends of Rotary and members of MacEwan Rotaract, spent the day volunteering for the Alberta Highway Cleanup. 🚮💪

We tackled our 3 km stretch of highway, and thanks to everyone’s hard work, it is now looking pristine! ✨👏 There’s nothing quite like good friends, fresh air, teamwork and a shared commitment to making our community a little better. ❤️

A small but enthusiastic Rotary team recently had the pleasure of taking part in the Ronald McDonald House Home for Dinner program 🏠, preparing and serving a meal for families staying at the House. A big thank-you to Fred for providing the recipe 📖 and to Darryll for stepping up as our chef 👨‍🍳 for the afternoon! The rest of us were happy to be his helpers—chopping, stirring, prepping and, of course, enjoying plenty of laughs along the way! 😄🍴

We also presented Ronald McDonald House with a $1,500 cheque, representing the proceeds from the 50/50 at our annual Golf Tournament.

It was a fun afternoon of teamwork, friendship and giving back 🤝❤️. Most importantly, it was a wonderful opportunity to support families going through a challenging time and give them one less meal to worry about. Rotary in action! 💙💛

🚗 **Go Baby Go!** 🚗

Al, Bill, Brian, Darryll, Lorne, John, Penny and Rob spent the day building two jeeps and a dune buggy as part of Alberta Variety’s Go Baby Go program. This year, volunteers are building more than 80 cars for children with disabilities!

After 90 minutes (a little longer for those tricky jeeps!), the excitement grew as the cars came together and we waited for the families to arrive.

Our dune buggy was built especially for Noah, who had outgrown his jeep. Seeing the delight on his face—and his family enjoying a drive around the park—was absolutely wonderful! ❤️

We were also pleased to present a cheque toward our club’s commitment to Alberta Variety. And we’re looking forward to helping out at the Volt Hockey Tournament soon!

Thanks to an incredible outpouring of support from Edmontonians, this year’s Thanksgiving dinner will go ahead – this time at the Aviation Museum on Sunday, October 11!

The full turkey dinner will be prepared by students from NAIT's Culinary Arts program. There will also be live music, supplies, and other activities on site. Doors open at 10:30AM, and meal service begins at 11:30AM.

We’re grateful to everyone who donated and spread the word, and we’re honoured and overjoyed to once again provide a sit-down meal to those we serve.

We also want to thank our longtime partners at NAIT, Edmonton's Food Bank and Rotary Club of Edmonton West for their years of support in making this event possible.

Thank you, Edmonton, for coming together and helping us create pathways toward miyo-pimâtisiwin – the good life.

Sorting donated food at the Edmonton Food Bank is definitely one of our favourite volunteer activities! There’s something about sorting boxes of donated food and everyone working together that makes for a pretty great evening. 💪😊

We were joined by members of the Northern Lights Rotaract Club and our newest Rotary member, Daniel! 🎉 It was fantastic to have some new faces, lots of energy, and plenty of helping hands.

We sorted, packed, lifted, laughed—and maybe got just a little competitive about who could empty the boxes the fastest! 😉 Most importantly, we know that every item we sorted will end up in a hamper and help someone in our community.

Back in 2017, our club noticed that the stairs leading up from the street to Grandview Extended Care were in pretty rough shape. They had deteriorated to the point where they were unsafe and essentially unusable.

Our club came up with a practical solution. Rotary volunteers built a new wooden staircase over the existing stairs, creating a safe and accessible route for residents, families, staff, and visitors.

Since then, this has become one of those projects that quietly demonstrates what Rotary is all about. Every couple of years, our members return to maintain the staircase, making sure it remains safe, sturdy, and looking its best.

This week, our crew is back at it again! We’ll be repainting the stairs and giving them some much-needed TLC.

It’s also a great reminder that service doesn’t always have to mean a big project or a big cheque. Sometimes it’s simply seeing something that needs to be done, coming up with a solution, and continuing to show up year after year to keep it going.

🏈💚 Our Rotary Club of Edmonton West crew was out greeting fans as they stepped off the buses for the Elks game during the annual Tackle Hunger food drive. After doing this for many years, we've become experts at smiling, waving, and convincing people to part with their money, and that carrying one less can of soup is a perfectly acceptable game-day strategy. 😄

Thanks to the incredible generosity of Edmontonians, an amazing $19,230 and 1,900 kg of food were collected for the Edmonton Food Bank!

A huge thank you to everyone who donated, volunteered, and helped make a real difference. You proved once again that our city has a championship heart. 💚💛

The impact of our Guatemala Eye Project continues long after our team returns home. ❤️👓

During our recent mission, patients in San Rafael were carefully measured for prescription glasses. Those prescriptions were brought back to Edmonton, where the glasses were custom made before being shipped back to Guatemala.

We're thrilled to share that the 278 pairs of glasses have now arrived in San Rafael and were distributed by our wonderful friends at the Rotary Club of Barillas. For many recipients, this is the first time they have been able to see clearly—opening doors to learning, working, and enjoying everyday life.

This project is a wonderful example of Rotary partnerships in action, bringing together volunteers in Guatemala and Edmonton to make a lasting difference.

Thank you to everyone who helped make this possible. Together, we're changing lives—one pair of glasses at a time. 💙💛
