Our PSW students recently took part in two engaging information sessions with experienced healthcare professionals Natalie Beaudin and Sean Horgan.

Natalie shared stories from her years working as a Personal Support Worker and highlighted insights from the field that go beyond the textbook. Sean spoke with students about his healthcare journey, from working as an Orderly to becoming a Personal Support Worker and now a Licensed Practical Nurse.

As students prepare to head to placement in just a few short weeks, these sessions gave them the chance to hear directly from experienced healthcare professionals and ask questions.

Practical IT skills start in the classroom 💻

For Rachid T., an Information Technology Professional student, the Managing Infrastructure Services module helped him gain hands-on experience with real-world system administration skills.

From T-SQL and SQL Server to Linux and Windows web servers, Rachid shared how the course helped build practical knowledge, while Professor Sanjeev’s support kept students engaged and confident.

Some journeys become bigger than the challenges along the way.

While completing the Medical Office Administration program, Leslee was balancing school, family, and life’s challenges along the way.

“It wasn’t always easy,” she shared. “There were days I had to push through setbacks, but I stayed true to my goal.” What inspired her was the desire to help others feel “supported, understood, and cared for during some of the hardest moments of their lives.”

With determination and support, Leslee graduated with distinction and is now working as a Patient Service Coordinator, where she’s able to connect with and support others in a meaningful way every day.

“Eastern College helped me turn a difficult chapter of my life into something meaningful.”

Leslee’s story is a powerful reminder of what perseverance, purpose, and compassion can achieve 💚

On Friday, May 1, the Eastern College Halifax team participated in Bowl for Kids’ Sake to raise funds for Big Brothers Big Sisters 🎳

In Halifax alone, there are over 100 “Littles” waiting to be matched with a “Big”, and 80% of them are boys.

We’re proud to share that we surpassed our $900 fundraising goal, raising nearly $1,400 for the cause. Thank you to everyone who donated and supported our campus bake sale, we couldn’t have done it without you 💙
