At Bike for Mike, our mission is to get kids walking/rolling to school on a daily basis. We have been so inspired by your generosity and enthusiasm. Thank you!

Bike for Mike is dedicated towards Mike’s dream of making Hamilton a more cycle-friendly city. Mike was an avid biker and cycled all over the world yet his favourite rides were on the roads and trails in the Hamilton area. Whether working as a bicycle messenger downtown, commuting to and from the university, or joy-riding up Sydenham hill or down Sulphur Springs, Mike loved to ride. Each time we ride, we Bike for Mike. The 5km Family Waterfront Ride (11:00am) is our most popular ride, and we’re so excited to be partnered with . This ride is a signal, with over 100 families riding together for one common message: let’s design our city so that kids can safely walk/bike to their daily destinations, experience nature, and play freely as they grow and develop.

On June 1, 2025, 'Bike for Mike' kicked off Bike month in Hamilton. It's the 15th annual event and a powerful celebration to remember Mike. This day is inspired by his wish: that Hamilton become a safer, more welcoming place for everyone to ride a bike where they live, work, and play – any time, any day of the year.

I very much look forward to this event, and this year I captured video during my ride on the "50km Classic Route" and at Collective Arts Brewing, which served as event headquarters. Watch the video to learn more about the event. Here are a few words about it:

Today, Mike's wish has become a city-wide mission. 'Bike for Mike' is more than a ride – it's a community-led effort to empower the next generation to move freely and safely through their neighbourhoods, beginning with the daily trip to school. We believe that every child deserves the opportunity to walk or cycle to and from school – and your participation helps make that a reality.

For a cleaner, safer, more connected community?

What a day! Thanks to all who rode, donated, volunteered, hosted, and provided services at the 15th Annual Mike Ride. It was amazing seeing so many people, including young kids, smiling and riding bikes together because of Mike’s vision. Special thanks to our partner Cycle Hamilton and hosts Collective Arts, Cafe Domestiique, and Brewers Blackbird. Can’t wait to see you next year on Sunday, June 7, 2026!
