GET READY!! We are so excited to welcome the spring season with our final event of the year — SPRING CONCERT!! 🌷🐛

Come watch and ****la perform at Chalmers United Church (212 Barrie St) on Saturday, March 28th.

Doors open at 11:30 AM and the performance starts at 12:00 PM (noon).

Tickets are $10 and can be purchased through the Zeffy link in our bio, or at the door via cash or e-transfer.

You can also enter our 50/50 raffle ($1 tickets) at the concert!

CALLING ALL ACA ENTHUSIASTS!! 🗣️ PLEASE READ ⬇️⬇️⬇️

Queen’s A Ca****la Association Presidency applications are now OPEN! LINK IN BIO!! 🔗❗️

PRESIDENT responsibilities include:
🔹 Attending all board meetings and help liaise tasks delegated to other board members
🔹 Working closely with other members of the presidency to fulfill other leadership tasks (i.e. following up with external contacts like the groups/judges, keeping track of goals in timeline, document creation etc..)
🔹 Following up on delegated tasks to board members, and organize information together to present at board meetings/to the president
🔹 Helping manage tasks and divide up work equally among members
🔹 Ensuring everyone is keeping up with their responsibilities, filling in where needed
🔹 Being responsible for the allocation, supervision, and maintenance of all The Club’s equipment.

(CO-)VICE PRESIDENT(S) responsibilities include:
🔹 Assisting the President in the coordination of all of The Club’s activities.
🔹 Assuming the role of President in their absence.
🔹 Giving notice of all meetings of The Club.

❗️Things to note:
🔹 You MUST be a current student at Queen’s University, or a member of one of Queen’s four A Ca****la groups.
🔹 While relevant skills are helpful, prior experience is not strictly necessary to apply.

GET READY — COMP IS *TOMORROW*!!! ‼️‼️

Get to know our intermission performers: Melrose and Kalm Winds Flute Quartet, as well as our tabulator, Sam Sosnowski and our emcee, Peter Rogers!

We are delighted to have and perform during our intermissions between throughout Queen’s 10th A Ca****la competition.

We are also happy to be assisted by as our tabulator, working with the judges throughout the evening, as well as .rogers04 who will be emceeing the entire competition!

A huge thank-you to all of you for your contributions and for making our competition complete!

And last but certainly not least, introducing… Deke Sharon!


Heralded “The Father of Contemporary A Ca****la” (Entertainment Weekly), Deke Sharon is a producer (NBC’s The Sing Off), music director (Pitch Perfect), arranger (Broadway’s In Transit), community leader (founding CASA, BOCA,CARAs, ICCA, CAP, Camp A Ca****la), author of 7 books, and performer since the age of 8, sharing the stage with the likes of Pavarotti, Ray Charles, and James Brown while pioneering and popularizing the sound of modern a ca****la.

Please meet our second lovely judge: JD Crowe!

Jeanne d’Arc Crowe, nicknamed JD, is a passionate Sweet Adelines International member for 30 years, having sung with Canadian Showtime Chorus in Ottawa Ontario for all those years. She has dedicated more than a decade of service as a member of the International Board of Directors, is currently President-Elect and will step into the role of International President on May 1, 2026. Her heart belongs to a ca****la four-part harmony sung in the barbershop style. Off the risers, she is happily married, the proud mom of two sons, and a delighted grandmother of two.

Do YOU want to know more about our COMP JUDGES? Q-ACA is delighted to introduce our the 2026 Queen’s Intercollegiate A Ca****la Competition Judges to you all!!

Up first we have Dr. Mariah Horner!

Dr. Mariah (Mo) Horner (she/they) is a theatre artist, educator, and musician based in Katarokwi-Kingston. She teaches theory and performance creation at the DAN School of Drama and Music at Queen’s University and co-facilitates a Philosophy and Creativity Circle at a prison nearby. She co-founded site-specific theatre collective Cellar Door Project, was the Festival Director of CFRC’s Shortwave Radio Theatre Festival from 2020-2022, and ran the Storefront Fringe Festival from 2016–2018. She is a core member of Kingston superband The Gertrudes, an emcee at the Skeleton Park Arts Festival and in 2022, she won the Mayor’s Arts Award for her work in the Kingston arts community.

And finally, meet our seventh competing Aca group… NOTEWORTHY from Wilfrid Laurier University!!


Noteworthy is Laurier’s newest acapella group, travelling from Waterloo, Ontario for this year’s competition! As a non-faculty specific group, Noteworthy brings together students studying music, arts, sciences, and everything in between, united by a shared love of singing and performing together. Since the beginning, the group has been passionate about making music and building community, and have taken part in a number of shows and competitions over the past few years. Noteworthy is so excited to be joining the rest of the talented competing groups at Queen’s this year!

Introducing our next aca group… WIBI A CA****LA from York University!

Founded in 1988 at York University, WIBI A Ca****la is the longest-running collegiate a ca****la ensemble in Canada, currently in its 37th year. Over the years, this collegiate group has explored a broad range of musical styles, and has evolved into the WIBI A Ca****la you see today.
Rehearsing twice a week, the members of WIBI come together to share a love of singing and music. The group pushes itself to achieve high standards of musicality and creativity, and above all, WIBI strives to maintain its legacy, both as an a ca****la group and a family.

Meet our next group! From Queen’s University… TRILLERS A CA****LA!

Trillers A Ca****la is a modern, co-ed a ca****la group established in 2010. As a group, they enjoy the challenge of exploring diverse genres, performing on stage, and also love to just simply spend time together. Through their singing, they hope to spread joy and happiness to others, putting on the greatest show! Trillers is truly one big family, with laughter, passion, and music bringing us together.
