The province is preparing to release its revised Indigenous curriculum for Ontario high school classrooms, but the Conservative government won’t be collaborating with its Indigenous partners until after the plan is released.

Hey IAS members!

For the past couple of weeks, the executive team has been working very hard to appropriately arrange the reserve trip to the Chippewas of the Thames Nation. Finally, we have come to an arranged date and time! The trip will be next Thursday, March 21st with a departure time of 3:00 pm. At latest, we should be back by 6:00 pm, or 5:30pm. We are so excited to learn about the reserve, history, and meet some of the band council.

The fee for the trip is $20.00 (for transportation needs) with extra proceeds going to the reserve.

For accommodations, please let the executive team know by email or Facebook message. Please share this event with your friends as it is a great opportunity.

For payments, you can e-transfer it or Facebook message us to arrange a time to meet with an executive member.

If you are attending, please send us an individual message.

Thanks so much and we hope to see you there!
-The IAS executive team.

P.S our flower fundraiser will be the week after and if you would like to get involved with that, please let us know.
We do apologize for the amount of time it took to smoothly arrange the trip, but we do hope to see you all there.

HEY IAS MEMBERS!
Happy Reading Week! Hope you all had a great family day and are having a wonderful reading week! Interested in getting involved? We have two events coming up that you need to know about! Also, if you have any event ideas of your own, please feel free to message us on Facebook.
1. Upon returning from reading week, we will be having a fundraiser with flowers to support the Chippewas of the Thames nation in some reserve initiatives including a healing lodge.
2. In this week, or a week shortly after the reading week, we will be having a trip to the reserve. The cost to attend the trip is $5.00 to cover the bus fee, as the reserve is an appreciable distance from Western’s campus.
If you would like to attend the trip to the reserve, PLEASE message us on Facebook or respond to the email sent out, so that we can have accurate numbers for our transportation 😊
Also, to volunteer and help out with the flower self-love fundraiser, please respond via Facebook or email as well.
We hope to hear from you all soon!
-The IAS executive team
