We are celebrating a milestone for long-time FIMS employee Cindy Morrison!

After 41 years at Western, guiding students, faculty and staff through countless successes, sticky wickets, conundrums and celebrations, Cindy has decided to close the library book on her career and start her next adventure in retirement.

Professor Susan Knabe has served as FIMS Associate Dean, Undergraduate for over a decade, and now she steps into a one-year appointment as the Acting Dean between July 1, 2025 and June 30, 2026.

FIMS is pleased to welcome Assistant Professor Bri Watson to our faculty in Library and Information Science!

An archivist, historian, and community organizer, Professor Watson brings a rich background of scholarship and leadership, with research interests in critical cataloguing, the history of sexuality, book history, digital humanities, and community archiving.

Originally from N'dakinna, near what is now called Quebec and New Hampshire, Bri is looking forward to putting down roots in London and connecting with our students.

FIMS is delighted to welcome Associate Professor Susan Knabe into a one-year appointment as Acting Dean, effective July 1, 2025.

Professor Knabe has spent a total of 11 years as Associate Dean Undergraduate at FIMS and previously served six months as FIMS Acting Dean in 2018. She brings valuable experience, insight and a love for all things FIMS to the role.

During her tenure as Associate Dean, Professor Knabe has led several key initiatives, including the development and launch of the Creative Arts and Production (CAP) program and the renaming of FIMS’ undergraduate program to Media and Communication Studies (MACS) - both of which have contributed to FIMS’ continued growth and evolution. With a joint appointment in the Department of Gender, Sexuality and Women’s Studies in the Faculty of Arts & Humanities, she is also well known for her institutional knowledge and her dedication to cross-campus collaboration.

On taking up this role, Professor Knabe shared:

"I'm looking forward to helping the FIMS community through this important leadership transition. I'm really excited to be working with such an amazing group of faculty, staff and students over the next year."
