Announcing the Fine Art Foundation juror for 2027 - LAURA KLINARD Laura Koomans

Laura is a graduate of Fanshawe’s Fine Art Advanced Diploma (2020) and OCADU’s Painting and Drawing program (2022).
Working between abstraction and representation, Laura uses painting to explore how experiences shape who we become. Drawing inspirations from nature and memory, her work reflects an interest in transformation: not as a single event, but as a gradual process that unfolds over time. Through layered surfaces, expressive mark-making, and recurring symbolic forms, her paintings invite others to consider the relationship between who they once were and who they are becoming.

Laura will have an exhibition, Second Nature at Siskind Gallery August 25 - September 18, 2026 and will deliver an artist talk to all Foundation and Fine Art students this fall. She will jury the Foundation Juried Exhibition in the winter term, the Signature Innovative Learning Experience in Fine Art Foundation that prepares Foundation graduates for professional exhibitions.

Last week we got to visit RBC Place London see the unveiling of newly acquired drawings by recent Advanced Diploma graduate, Mackenzie Beirnes-Daniels on IG Mackenzie Beirnes-Daniels The suite of drawings are now part of the collection of the City of London, Ontario Permanent Indigenous Art Collection! Congratulations to Mackenzie!
