Last week was a big one for our 2nd-year students.

They wrapped up their final Capstone projects, a year-long, consulting-style experience where they partnered with industry, tackled real-world challenges, and brought their research and recommendations to life. Presenting their findings to peers, faculty, and partners was no small feat, and they absolutely delivered.

Bravo to all of you! Thank you to our industry partners for your mentorship and collaboration.

Last week, our second-year students wrapped up their final professional development session of the program, and it was a fun one!

 
We were lucky to have 10 industry professionals join us to run mock interviews, share feedback, and give students practical advice. Each student had the chance to complete 2–3 interviews, which made for an engaging experience.

 A great way to end the PD schedule and a strong start as our students head into their full-time job search.

On Friday, the MUI 1st year students had the opportunity to visit the Town of Oakville for a half-day meet-and-greet with Mayor Rob Burton and members of his team.

It’s not every day that students get that kind of access to a mayor, and the thoughtfulness Mayor Burton brought to the conversation spoke volumes about his commitment to supporting the next generation of city builders.

From candid reflections on political leadership to insights on municipal decision-making and strategy, the discussion was relevant and engaging.

On Wednesday, MUI was proud to attend the Invest Mississauga's Economic Development Strategy Launch at the Living Arts Centre, celebrating the Path to Prosperity 2030.

We were especially thrilled to receive a shoutout from UTM Principal Professor Alexandra Gillespie, who was a fantastic panelist and champion for UTM’s role in the city’s growth.

This event is just another example of MUI’s partnership with the City of Mississauga from student internships, Capstones and applied projects to alumni now working in municipal roles. We see the impact of this collaboration in so many meaningful ways, and we’re excited for what’s ahead.

The MUI Program was proud to sponsor and attend , and as always, it was an excellent couple of days.

This year felt especially meaningful for us. Seeing MUI alumni not only attend EDCO but also contribute to award-winning work as part of their teams was a real highlight.

Our giveaway was something you could plant, a small nod to what EDCO represents for us: planting the seeds for ideas, partnerships, and future impact.
