ConCuerda es un proyecto para la restauración y reparación de los instrumentos de cuerda de orquestas juveniles e infantiles en Colombia. Adicionalmente ConCuerda busca estimular la formación de jóvenes locales en el oficio de luthiers. ConCuerda es una iniciativa diseñada y liderada por Liliana Gutierrez (Montreal, Canadá) y apoyada por Tom Wilder, prestigioso luthier, fundad
or y propietario de Wilder & Davis Luthiers Inc. en Canadá. Desde 1991 Wilder & Davis se ha dedicado a la fabricación y restauración de violines y arcos, atendiendo las necesidades de músicos principiantes y profesionales. Wilder & Davis es el Luthier oficial de la Orquesta Sinfonica de Montreal. Tom Wilder, nativo de Toronto, Canadá, tiene un BA de Memorial University, St-John’s, Newfoundland, y una Maestría de McGill University, Montreal, Canadá. Su experiencia incluye trabajos con Kevin March (Seúl, Corea del Sur), Hans Weisshaar (Los Angeles, USA) y Pierre Bartel (Paris, Francia). Es miembro de la Entente Internationale des Luthiers et Archetiers, miembro y expresidente de la American Federation of Violin and Bow Makers, fundador y presidente de IPCI, Canadá, e integrante de la Violin Society of America. Antes de venir a nuestro país, Tom y su equipo trabajaron de manera voluntaria con la Escuela Vocacional de Arte “Alfonso Perez Isaac” de Matanzas, Cuba por un periodo de doce años. En 2016 realizarán el primer proyecto de ConCuerda en Colombia con los niños, niñas y jóvenes músicos de Villa de Leyva. La primera edición de ConCuerda, denominada ConCuerda Villa de Leyva 2016, tendrá lugar entre el 20 de febrero y el 5 de marzo de 2016. ConCuerda Villa de Leyva 2016 apoyará la restauración y reparación de los instrumentos de cuerda de la Orquesta Sinfónica Juvenil e Infantil de Villa de Leyva (violines, violas, violonchelos y sus arcos), estimulará la formación de jóvenes locales en el oficio de luthiers y realizará un conversatorio sobre el oficio del luthier y (“En torno al oficio del luthier: Perspectivas de ambos mundos.”)

ConCuerda is a project for the restoration and repair of stringed instruments for youth and children’s orchestras in Colombia. Furthermore, ConCuerda seeks to encourage the training of the local youth in the profession of the luthier. ConCuerda is an initiative designed and led by Liliana Gutierrez (Montreal, Canada) and supported by Tom Wilder, prestigious luthier, founder and owner of Wilder & Davis Luthiers Inc. in Canada. Since 1991, Wilder & Davis has been engaged in the manufacturing and restoration of violins and bows, serving the needs of beginners and professional musicians. Tom Wilder, a native from Toronto, Canada, has a BA from the Memorial University, St-John’s, Newfoundland, and a Master’s Degree from McGill University, Montreal, Canada. His experience includes works with Kevin March (Seul, South Korea), Hans Weisshaar (Los Angeles, USA) and Pierre Bartel (Paris, France). He is a member of the Entente Internationale des Luthiers et Archetiers, member and former president of the American Federation of Violin and Bow Makers, founder and president of IPCI, Canada, and member of the Violin Society of America. Before arriving to our country, Tom and his team worked voluntarily with the Vocational Arts School “Alfonso Perez Isaac” from Matanzas, Cuba, during a period of twelve years. In 2016, they will carry out the first project of ConCuerda in Colombia with the children and young musicians of Villa de Leyva. The first edition of ConCuerda, titled ConCuerda Villa de Leyva 2016, will take place between February 20 and March 5, 2016. ConCuerda Villa de Leyva 2016 will support the restoration and repair of the stringed instruments of the Youth Symphony Orchestra of Villa de Leyva (violins, violas, violoncellos and their bows), encourage the training of the local youth in the profession of luthiers and will hold a discussion group on the profession of luthiers and (“Regarding the profession of the luthier: Perspectives fr0m both worlds.”)
