Today, we're shining a light on one of our amazing community partners, Centre Kapwa! 💛
Centre Kapwa is a by-and-for non-profit that supports the mental health and well-being of Filipino youth and their families in Montreal. Through art, movement, and conversation, they create spaces where people can gather and build meaningful connections.
Since its founding, Centre Kapwa has helped open conversations around mental health while challenging stigma and addressing the impacts of racism within Filipinx and broader Asian communities. Through book launches, conferences, artist gatherings, community walks, and radio shows, their work continues to bring people together through culture, creativity, and collective care.
One of their recurring programs is Ka-Artehan, a monthly gathering hosted at SHIFT where Filipino artists, creatives, and community members come together to connect, collaborate, and share their work. Make sure to follow their art collective, Ka Collective on Instagram, to stay updated on upcoming gatherings and events.
This Sunday at 11AM, Centre Kapwa is collaborating with Wild Pride Montreal for a special edition of Kapwa Walk through the Village. The community walk explores different Montreal neighbourhoods while creating space for connection and collective storytelling. If you see them around, stop by and say hello!
