Yesterday was graduation day at VIU, and it was a good day for Geoscience.
A heartfelt congratulations to the nine graduating students…with some in attendance. As the various speeches emphasized yesterday, this is just the beginning of interesting things to come. It gives us a real warm and happy feeling to witness your progress through the various Geoscience/Earth Science programs, and to see where the degree takes you professionally. Congratulations to all the 2026 graduates.

A couple of pictures of the wet afternoon. The picture includes 1) the recipient of the Governor General’s Academic Silver Medal (for the graduating student who achieved the highest academic standing in ALL Bachelor’s programs at VIU!), 2) a freshly-admitted graduate student-to-be at SFU Earth Science, 3) five fully employed grads working in interesting jobs in far flung places.

Congratulations again. All the best to everyone.
