Celebrating World Giraffe Day today!
Back in 2004, my first book was published, called Walking TALL - partly due to my love of giraffes but mostly due to my height or lack of (5ft 1.5 inches!) and it's connection to the subject matter of Personal Branding, which of course the book is about.
McGraw-Hill ingeniously came up with a beautiful giraffe design for the cover. In 2006 I rebranded my company to be called Walking TALL and the giraffe became synonymous with the Walking TALL brand. It worked and I even got called The Giraffe Lady at times - how funny is that!
Today in honour of World Giraffe Day, celebrating the majestic giraffe, a perfect symbol of our Walking TALL philosophy.
Here are three lesser-known facts about giraffes and why they embody the essence of Walking TALL.
1. Unique Communication: Giraffes communicate using infrasound—sounds below the range of human hearing. This ability to communicate subtly yet effectively aligns with our belief that true presence often lies in the unseen and unheard, making a quiet yet profound impact on how we make people feel.
2. Incredible Vision: Giraffes have excellent vision, allowing them to see great distances. This trait represents our commitment to foresight and clarity in our actions, helping individuals and organisations see beyond immediate challenges to achieve long-term success.
3. Strong Heart: A giraffe's heart can weigh up to 25 pounds and is powerful enough to pump blood up their long necks. This symbolises the strength and resilience required to make mindset changes, reminding us that true power comes from within.
Our logo has undergone a few iterations since the book cover and we love the latest - designed by the talented Guiseppe Boscherini.
I'm proud to have delivered the Walking TALL methodology now to 28 countries (and numerous others remotely) across 5 continents, and hopefully have provided some valuable insights to many people over the years.
Here's to giraffes and the happiness, peace and smiles they bring to our planet.
