PART 2 — Highlights & Recaps from our annual Farmers Market last week. Plenty of good times and good chats!

2. Emilie from Les Jardins d'etc. with her gorgeous local and eco-friendly flowers. If you're graduating, Emilie also provides flowers for Convocation! Keep an eye to pre-order your bouquet during the winter semester! 💐👀

PART 1 — Highlights & Recap from our annual Farmers Market last week! 🎃
What a nice day it was!

1. Sustainable Agriculture and Food Systems Club were present with Bishop's Educational Farm's harvest! 🍓

2. Brayden and Shawna from Indigenous Student Services attended with beautiful beaded jewellery and handmade baskets, each of which were signed by their makers from Shawna's Mi'gmaw community in Gaspséie. 🧡

3. Camille from les Hôtes Épinettes, whom you can see every Thursday at the Bike Shelter from June til end of October. 🥦

4. The Bee Club was there with our most recent honey harvest, directly from Bishop's hives! 🍯🐝

5. Robin from Wild Thing Flower Farm with flowers, flower-dyed clothes, textiles, beeswax products and more! Robin also provides locally-grown and eco-friendly bouquets for Valentine's Day, Easter, and Convocation. 🥰🌷

Bill C-30 was passed in June 2026. Did you hear about it? If not, all information here can also be found on Radio Canada, CBC, non-profit organizations like Ecojustice Canada, or independent journalistic platforms such as The Pointer.

Supporting local organic agriculture is an excellent way to reduce exposure to pesticides. Not only that, by doing so you're also supporting local economy, reducing your carbon footprint, eating delicious seasonal food (!), meeting your community, and staying connected to the realities of the person who grew what's in your plate! This is why we host an on-campus market with every Thursday, from 12-1 pm, at Bishop's Bike Shelter, from mid-June until October 29th.

The bird is the word!🐤 Bird enthusiast Jeff Macdonald, who also happens to work here on campus in Health & Safety, recently hosted an informative bird house building session in the community garden!
Bird houses offer nesting spots for birds that would otherwise rely on natural tree holes. Because old and rotting trees are often removed by humans for safety reasons, bird houses offer a great alternative!
