A New Mexico judge ordered Meta to pay $576M and make changes to its Instagram and Facebook platforms to improve safety for young users and address harms that Meta’s social media platforms caused to their mental health.

This is an action that we at Amnesty International have been calling for. Major social media platforms have been designed to maximize engagement and profit, while failing to adequately protect children's rights.
