If you’re serious about getting the most of yourself and your time on this planet, then I highly recommend leaning into this episode and listening to this man’s story.

From pro athlete to coach… to now being a leader helping shape young minds.

Here’s a little more about Scott:

AFL career with stops at West Coast during the 90’s powerhouse era.

Sydney and Fremantle, receiving runner up in the best and fairest and vice-captain in his return to the west.

Senior AFL assistance and senior coach before moving into the world of creating impact on the lives of many in a different way.

Remarkable human.

Humble man.

Scott Watters is here to tell us all about his journey as a Life Changer.

Being a dad for the second time has been awesome in so many ways.

It certainly helps of course to have an amazing partner in life. I love you

What has really stood out though is how our growth as humans has translated to our growth as parents.

It starts with wanting to be awesome parents and choosing to behave and show up as such everyday. Belief is not a small part of this equation.

My self talk game used to be awful and it showed in my results. I used to say things like I’m not fit to be a parent and I’ll never know what it’s like to experience financial independence. The results spoke for themselves.

We still have a lot of room to grow as parents, just like I will always have more room to improve as an investor and manager of money.

I swore to myself when I knew I was going to be a dad that I would prioritize this job above all others and I have committed to that growth everyday.

In a similar way I told myself at the back end of the 2008 financial crisis that I would never again miss an opportunity to amass wealth like had just occurred when the economy recovered.

I believed in both of these outcomes and practiced at getting better at them everyday.

I’m not saying being a dad or being an investor are easy endeavors. I’m just saying that with practice, everything gets a little easier over time.

Money is a fascinating subject!

One that doesn’t get talked about in enough homes growing up and one that is also something that will be a part of our entire lives, good or bad.

For me it isn’t about a love of money, it's about helping people not make the mistakes I did in my younger years and getting the start that has them get to financial freedom SO MUCH FASTER than it took me.

These books are not investment strategy books or intro to investing by any means, but they all attack the subject of money mindset and money systems in a different way.

If you are looking to better understand this energy source called money, these books will not do you wrong!

I also found it interesting that only one of these books was published in the 2000’s. I've read many modern books on the subject, but these books are still on top 10 lists for a reason!

Enjoy.

We all get old in life. That is a guarantee. How we get old is up to each and every one of us.

Life is getting more expensive. Especially if you’re having kids. I wasted my 20’s in an alcoholic slumber.

I had to get laser focused in my 30’s to turn the ship around. I will never take my foot off the gas because I know how I want to live and the impact I want to have.

Don’t just invest in your wealth, invest in your health as well. Make it a 360 approach.

When you do reach that finish line, what do you want to look back and say?

Does the amount of options and information about investing make you want to not even bother?

There’s a name for this and it’s called “information blindness”.

A 2004 study done by researchers at Columbia University set out to understand why many people chose not to partake in 401k matching programs at large companies.

They surveyed over 800,000 participants over the length of the study.

What they found was that the less options employees had, the more likely they were to participate.

The more options, usually around 30+, led to information blindness. Rates of sign up dropped significantly the more the options became abundant.

The answer was to start asking better questions to create better filters to sort through the all of options.

This is why you need to ask yourself some better questions to start seeing through all the noise.

Once you have a base level understanding, finding a low risk strategy that you can follow for the long term is not so difficult.

The amount of news and noise is not going away.

Start by finding the answers to these questions and then decide if you want to go further.

If you want to discuss long term strategy, book a discovery call and let’s get after it. Link in bio.
