UBC is a place of mind. Many minds, many different ideas. Now the question is, with such a diverse group of minds, there come many ideas and many clubs to represent those ideas. How do we differentiate ourselves? With the emergence of an IDEA so powerful it brings people together, it teaches people things about the global situation, it empowers people to think, start, innovate. We are focusing on
a continent with immense potential and growth. AFRICA. More specifically, we are focusing on the potential of Business in Africa. Through networking. Through learning, not just from anyone but from successful entrepreneurs of the continent. The UBC African Business Club is the home of African Business at the University of British Columbia, located in Vancouver, Canada. Our mission is to promote Africa as a great place to do business. Through our flagship event, the African Business Forum, the UBC African Business Club identifies and promotes business opportunities between North America and Africa by providing a platform for knowledge transfer between students, young professionals, accomplished and leading business leaders from across Africa and North America. The African Business Club also provides students with opportunities for professional development including: internships, mentorship, business plan development and case studies. There are two main branches of the African Business Club, creating the core: The African Business Network and the African Business Forum. The African Business Forum (ABF) converges international business leaders, innovative Africa focused entrepreneurs, students and academics for 2 days of focused discussion on enterprise in Africa. This Forum is the premier student-run African Business Forum on the West Coast of North America. This Forum is an exclusive event to foster collaboration and idea exchange between Africa’s future leaders and investors. We invite you to join us as we showcase our shared commitment to Africa’s burgeoning growth story. The African Business Network, primarily planned to initiate actively in January 2016, will be connecting African businesses to entrepreneurial students, providing exciting opportunities of internships and insights into business in Africa.
