SOGS - Society of Geography Students SOGS is the undergraduate course union for geography students at the University of Victoria.

We acknowledge that our course union exists upon the stolen lands of the Lekwungen-speaking peoples, particularly the Songhees, Esquimalt, and WSÁNEĆ nations. We honour and respect the peoples who have cared for this land since time immemorial and acknowledge the historical relationships with the land that continue to this day. oria! SOGS works hard to create a sense of community among undergraduate geography students. Join us in the SOGS Room, a common space on campus perfect for studying, having lunch, or meeting new geographers (DTB B327). Throughout the year SOGS hosts a variety of events, fundraisers, humanitarian mapathon projects, and other activities suggested by geography students.

Calling all Geog students!

This is an urgent call for students to attend interviews with candidates for the Resource Management hiring committee! The department is setting up meetings between undergrads and the few candidates they have left and we need more people to attend. Each meeting will be an opportunity to meet a different candidate to learn more about them and ask them questions. The meetings are about 30 minutes long. Here are the dates and times:

Tuesday, Feb. 8th, 10:30 am
Friday, Feb. 11th, 11:00 am
Tuesday, Feb. 15th, 11:30 am
Friday, Feb. 18th, 11:00 am

Our Koeye field school program (Indigenous knowledge, science, and resource management) returns for 2022 as a Summer course offering on April 30th - May 10th. Currently planned as a virtual program, with a chance of pivoting to an in-person, immersive field format if circumstances allow. Only students who can commit to either format should apply. Application deadline MARCH 15TH @ 4pm.
