Chemistry is a small world after all 🌎 Today's seminar speaker Ted Sargent was hosted in our department by Dr. Saidaminov, who himself used to be in the Sargent group before he joined our faculty at the University of Victoria.

Dr. Sargent's seminar talk today was "Materials Discovery with AI-in-the-loop: Accelerating the discovery and advancement of materials for photon sensing, photovoltaics, and carbon management." Thank you for visiting our department!

UVic Chemistry is proud to be represented by PhD graduate Allison Selinger, who is one of this year's 3 recipients of the Alice Wilson Award and one of 2 from University of Victoria.

As a PhD student in the Hof Group, Allison created new molecules that acted as sensors and changed colour to identify different chemical and biological samples. Since her successful defense, she has become an NSERC postdoctoral fellow at TRIUMF where she is currently creating radioactive drugs that target tumor cells in cases where cancer has grown and spread through the body.

Congratulations to Allison and her stellar achievement! Read the full story here: https://ow.ly/qZ2J50ZOxwF
