In a recent review of her will, UVic double grad Lauren Stamhuis added a planned gift to the campus food bank's operating fund.

At age 39, she felt the update solidified her values and what she believes in.

"The big misconception, I think, is people think legacy giving is only for the elderly or the rich. Neither of those things is true… Leaving a gift in your will is a step toward building a legacy, no matter what your age or stage of life.”

⁉️ ANNNNNNND that Jason Priestley’s mom, Sharon Mason (née Kirk), is also a UVic grad, and acted in a number of Phoenix Theatre productions before graduating in 1964?

Music and science may be an unusual mix, but UVic student Gheana Valencia loves both subjects so much she’s juggling two degrees at once.

UVic alumni are invited to give back to the community by participating in a beach clean-up in partnership with Surfrider Foundation.

Surfrider Foundation is committed to fostering a just, equitable, diverse and inclusive organization for all people who depend on, protect and enjoy the world’s ocean, waves and beaches.

Join us alongside members of the UVic Surfrider student club as we help keep our local beach clean and welcoming for all.

UVic alumni, friends and family roared up a storm Friday night to watch the BC Lions take on the Saskatchewan Roughriders at BC Place as part of the team’s Orange Shirt Day Game to honour and respect Canada’s National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.

The Leos won 31-24.

This was the first time UVic Alumni has organized an alumni event at a BC Lions game, but judging by the turnout, it won’t be the last.

Tomorrow, UVic is recognizing the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and Orange Shirt Day.

This year our gathering takes place in UVic’s Centennial Stadium. Students, faculty staff, alumni and community are invited to join us Tuesday, Sept. 29 from 1:30 – 2:45 p.m. at the stadium to gather, listen, learn and reflect on the truths of residential schools.
