Peñablanca, Cagayan — March 21, 2026
Marking a significant milestone in its academic journey, the Kalinga State University (KSU) Pharmacy Department proudly made its historic debut at the 3rd Pharmalympics (Cagayan North Chapter), held at the Medical Colleges of Northern Philippines in Peñablanca, Cagayan.
The Pharmalympics, now on its third year, is a highly anticipated annual regional gathering of pharmacy students from leading institutions across Northern Luzon. Designed to foster academic excellence, professional collaboration, and camaraderie, the event brought together delegates from Saint Paul University Philippines, University of Saint Louis, University of La Salette, Medical Colleges of Northern Philippines, and International School of Asia and the Pacific-Kalinga.
Amid a field largely composed of private higher education institutions, KSU stood out as the only public HEI, sending a formidable delegation of 63 students and 3 faculty members—a testament to its growing commitment to excellence in pharmaceutical education.
Throughout the day-long competition, participants engaged in a wide array of intellectually demanding and skill-based events that tested both theoretical knowledge and practical competencies. These included Clinical Case Presentation, Patient Counselling, Pharmacy Quiz Bee, and Extemporaneous Speaking—all designed to simulate real-world pharmacy practice and sharpen future professionals. Beyond academics, the event also celebrated creativity, culture, and teamwork. Delegates captivated audiences in the Pharmagalaw Folk Dance Competition, showcased advocacy and confidence in the Pharmacy Youth Advocate Pageant, and demonstrated sportsmanship in the Basketball Tournament.
Despite the packed schedule, with all events conducted within a single day, the energy and enthusiasm of participants remained unwavering. In its debut performance, KSU delivered an admirable showing, finishing as 4th Runner-Up in the overall standings—a remarkable achievement that reflects both the resilience and potential of its Pharmacy Department.
More than a competition, the Pharmalympics continues to serve as a vital platform for inter-institutional collaboration, professional networking, and the exchange of ideas among future pharmacists. It strengthens unity across pharmacy schools while promoting a shared vision of advancing patient-centered, future-ready pharmacy practice in the region. KSU’s participation not only marks the beginning of its journey in the Pharmalympics but also signals its rising presence in the regional academic community—ready to compete, collaborate, and lead in the evolving landscape of pharmaceutical education.
