UNIVERSITY OF BUEA RELEASES FIRST UNDERGRADUATE ADMISSION LIST

Today, 17th September 2026, the University of Buea published its first admission list for undergraduate programmes for the 2026/2027 academic year.

For the Department of Microbiology and Parasitology, a total of 441 students have been admitted in this first list:

🔹 Microbiology — 269 students
🔹 Parasitology — 172 students

This is only the first admission list, and with applications and reapplications still open, the number of admitted students is expected to increase as the admission process continues.

LEVEL 300 FIELD TRIP | JUNE

In June, our Level 300 Parasitology major students embarked on an educational field trip to a farm near a river in Limbe under our leadership.

The visit provided students with valuable practical knowledge and a deeper understanding of the Simulium fly, which transmits river blindness. The trip also included a relaxing visit to the beach, where the students enjoyed fun, relaxation, and quality time together.

As we remain committed to promoting both practical learning and the wellbeing of our students, we sincerely thank our administrators for making this field trip possible and for assigning lecturers to oversee the entire process.

LEVEL 300 FIELD TRIP | MAY

In May, our Level 300 Microbiology students embarked on an educational field trip under our leadership to the Ombe Camwater Plant in Limbe.

The visit provided students with valuable practical knowledge and a deeper understanding of water treatment and management processes. The trip concluded with a relaxing visit to Tsaben Beach 🏖️, where the students enjoyed fun, relaxation, and quality time together.

As we remain committed to promoting both practical learning and the wellbeing of our students, we sincerely thank our administrators for making this field trip possible and for assigning lecturers to oversee the entire process.

HOD’S CUP | LATE APRIL–MAY

The HOD’s Cup, held from late April to May, remains one of the events we organize to ensure that students enjoy the best of their university experience.

The students’ governing body, BUMPSA executives of the Positive Experience batch 2025/26 launched the HOD’s Cup, featuring both girls’ and boys’ football competitions across all levels in the department, including postgraduate students.

The competition ended successfully, with the players receiving medals 🏅 and the winning team being presented with trophies 🏆.

YOUTH DAY CELEBRATION | 11 FEBRUARY

On 11 February, we participated in the Youth Day celebration as students of the Department of Microbiology and Parasitology in the Faculty of Science.

As the student government body, we supported the administration in ensuring that our department was well represented and that the Faculty of Science contributed to making the celebration a success. Through our presence, cooperation, and active participation, we demonstrated our commitment as patriotic citizens and responsible students.

The celebration provided an opportunity for us to promote unity, discipline, civic responsibility, and the important role of young people in the development of our institution and society.

We sincerely appreciate the administration and all students who contributed to the success of the event. Our participation strengthened the spirit of teamwork, leadership, and service within the department and the faculty.

MICROBIOLOGY LEVEL 400 EDUCATIONAL VISIT TO BOISSON DU CAMEROUN | JANUARY 2026

In January 2026, we led Level 400 Microbiology students on an educational visit to Boisson du Cameroun in Douala, where they learned about the production processes of b**r and fruit juices.

The visit provided students with practical, step-by-step knowledge of industrial production, from the preparation of raw materials to processing, quality control, packaging, and distribution. This experience was organized to ensure that practical skills are effectively integrated with classroom knowledge.

We sincerely appreciate Boisson du Cameroun for welcoming our students and providing them with valuable insight into the food and beverage industry. The visit strengthened our students’ understanding of microbiology in industrial production and highlighted the importance of hygiene, safety, quality assurance, and professional responsibility.

WELCOMING OUR FRESHMEN | BUMPSA 2025/26

During our grand 2025/26 Academic Year Freshman Party in December, the Buea University Microbiology and Parasitology Students’ Association (BUMPSA) warmly welcomed our new students into the department.

Transitioning from high school to university is an important journey, and we believe every freshman deserves a warm embrace, a sense of belonging, and the encouragement to begin this new chapter with confidence. The event provided an opportunity for our new students to connect with one another, interact with continuing students, and feel at home within the department.

We extend our sincere appreciation to our departmental administrators for their guidance and support in ensuring that the party was successfully organized and conducted without any misconduct. Through discipline and responsible participation, we made them proud and upheld the good name of our department.
