广东水利电力职业技术学院是1999年7月经教育部批准成立的一所公办全日制高等院校。学院隶属广东省水利厅，业务上接受广东省教育厅指导。学院前身是1952年10月成立的广州土木水利工程学校，文革期间停办，1973年5月复办改名为广东省水利电力学校。1999年7月经教育部批准，升格为广东水利电力职业技术学院。建校至今已有五十七年历史。
