Unfortunately our time has come to an end and we have concluded yesterday the 4th Pilsen Summer School of Single Cell.

It was an intense but fulfilling 9 days. We would like to thank everyone who made this summer school possible, namely Lékařská fakulta v Plzni Univerzity Karlovy and Fakulta aplikovaných věd, our team of external supervisors who shared their incredible knowledge: Dr. Valentina Caputo (London South Bank University), Dr. Iros Barozzi (Medical University of Vienna), Dr. Aleksander Jankowski (University of Warsaw), and Dr. Bartosz Wojtaś (Polish Academy of Sciences) as well as our local supervisors Robin Klieber, Kateřina Wolf, Pavel Ostašov, Eliška Jandová and Tomáš Honzík.

This summer school would not be possible without the financial support from Bone Marrow Transplant Foundation and Elixir Czech Republic, without our sponsors BD (Becton, Dickinson and Company), Singleron, Biohem, Biotech Innovative, Thermo Fisher Scientific and ExBio and our collaborators CiRT, Fakultní nemocnice Plzeň and CASC.

At our summer school, we never forget that science is meant to be fun too — and that fun and rest are essential for great results. So right in the middle of the program, we organized a fun day in Pilsen for our participants. They enjoyed a guided tour of the city, and in the afternoon got the chance to visit the famous brewery and sample some b**r.

But our fun day actually started a day early — on Saturday, we had ice cream at coffee break. Who else can say that?

The 2026 Pilsen Summer School of Single Cells is in full swing! We have finished our wet lab training and now it is time to put our knowledge to the test in the experimental design workshop. We can safely say that we have no doubts that our students will excel in it!

Thanks to BD (Becton, Dickinson and Company) and Singleron for showing their technologies to our students and Thermo Fisher Scientific, Biohem, Biotech Innovative and ExBio for providing reagents to the wet lab. Also big thanks to Lékařská fakulta v Plzni Univerzity Karlovy for support!
