Anglistik/Amerikanistik - TU Chemnitz This page is maintained by students of the Department for English and American Studies at Chemnitz University of Technology.

The department of English and American Studies at Chemnitz University of Technology combines many aspects of the English-speaking world. It offers much more than the formal study of the English language. The cultural and literary aspects of language open up to a wide range of academic possibilities and interests. Students can chose between subjects ranging from

- English & Digital Linguistics
-

English Literatures
- British and American Cultural & Social Studies
- Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages

You’re also going to study an supplementary
subject such as media communication, German studies or politics. Thanks to many partnerships, the department has a very international feel. So far we had the pleasure to welcome guest researches from all over the world, such as the UK, Ireland, Eastern Europe, China, Turkey, Tanzania, Nigeria, Cameroon, Ghana and South Africa. You are also welcome to visit one of our events in the Club of Cultures where students and guest researchers take you on an interesting and culinary journey to many different countries of the world. More information can be found on the page of our friends at the English Club. (https://www.facebook.com/TUCEnglishClub)

To properly start off the beginning of the new semester, we would like to introduce to you our newest member of the English and American Studies Faculty - Prof. Dr. Christina Sanchez-Stockhammer from the department of English and Digital Linguistics.

"To me, linguistics is the most exciting of all academic subjects, because it is so varied. Linguistics deals with everything that has to do with language, and since language permeates human existence, this means that our topics span the whole range from the correspondence between spelling and pronunciation via the register-specific use of language in comics to the question whether we can predict what English will look like in the future (in case you are interested, take a look at the openaccess texts on my website at christina-sanchez.de/about_me/publications)."
