🌍 Bridging Science & Entrepreneurship! 🚀

The Across – European Cross-Border University is proud to announce the release of this article from our second newsletter: Sciencepreneurship: Bridging Borders (Jan-Feb 2026).
From a pivotal roundtable at the University of Udine to the launch of our new Across Border Engagement Centers (ABEC), we are committed to turning scientific research into real-world innovation. By connecting researchers, business leaders, and local institutions, we are creating a unique ecosystem for the Friuli Venezia Giulia and Slovenia cross-border region.

Spreading the Word Across Europe! 🌍

We are thrilled to share the highlights of our recent tour promoting international education and cross-border cooperation. From bustling educational fairs to local secondary schools, the Across Alliance and UNG representatives have been busy connecting with the next generation of European students.

Highlights of the tour:
📍 Albania & Serbia: Kickoff at the « Study in Europe » fair (Tirana) and « Balkan Edu Expo » (Belgrade).
📍 Bulgaria & Bosnia: Interactive sessions in Sofia, Pernik, and Vogošća.
📍 North Macedonia: Strengthening long-standing ties in Skopje and Štip.

Our mission is clear: building a « borderless campus » where students can access enriched study options, Erasmus+ opportunities, and interdisciplinary projects across the continent.

Empowering the Next Generation of Women in STEM 🧬✨

The University of Udine hosted a vibrant event dedicated to celebrating inclusion and the vital role of women in science. Organized by the Equal Opportunities Committee (CUG) and supported by the Across Alliance, the gathering brought together over 70 participants to discuss the future of research and innovation.

Highlights included:

🎬 A powerful social media campaign featuring testimonials from students and researchers.

🌌 An inspiring talk by astrophysicist Gabrijela Zaharijas on her international career.

🏆 The « Confagricoltura Donna FVG » Degree Prize ceremony, honoring academic excellence.

We are committed to boosting the visibility of women in research and inspiring the next wave of scientists!

Call for proposals for Across Summer Schools

The Across European University Alliance has launched a call for proposals for international summer schools (Across Summer Schools) to be implemented in the years 2026–2028.

Across Summer Schools are intensive educational programmes addressed to students from Across partner universities, combining academic learning with international mobility experience. The initiative aims to strengthen cross-border cooperation, develop joint educational offers, and enhance the European dimension of higher education.
Each summer school may host up to 15 students. The funding covers organisational support as well as mobility grants for participants. Proposals may be submitted by all Across partner universities, provided that at least three alliance institutions are involved, including academic staff from a minimum of two partner universities other than the host institution.

The application deadline is 15 May 2026.

🧪 Microbe to the Rescue!

Highlight of the visit: Giovanni Del Frari, postdoc at UNIUD, presented his groundbreaking startup project. His research uses a unique blend of microorganisms—fungi, bacteria, and yeast—to restore microbial diversity in grapevines. 🍇✨

🤝 Synergy in Action…
The Incubation Manage from UPVD, Sara Gregori, and UNIUD’s ViP of Technology Transfer, Giovanni Cortella, are working hand-in-hand to build bridges between our universities. By combining our resources, we are creating a powerful ecosystem to support young entrepreneurs and drive success across Europe.
