𝐓𝐞𝐚𝐦𝐚𝐮𝐬𝐟𝐥𝐮𝐠 𝐧𝐚𝐜𝐡 𝐃ü𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐝𝐨𝐫𝐟: Dem Geruchssinn auf der Spur!👃🔍

Letzten Samstag war unsere Arbeitsgruppe in Düsseldorf, um die faszinierende Ausstellung „Die geheime Macht der Düfte“ im Kunstpalast zu besuchen.

Auf einer Fläche von 5.000 m² wurden wir durch über 1.000 Jahre Kunst- und Kulturgeschichte geführt - begleitet von rund 30 Duftstationen. Dort konnten wir hautnah erleben, wie Gerüche sofort Erinnerungen wachrufen, Emotionen wecken und unsere Wahrnehmung beeinflussen.

🏙️ Wie hat es damals in Städten gerochen?
🍊 Wie entstand das legendäre Eau de Cologne?
🧴 Wie prägten Parfüms und Waschmittel den Alltag?

Für uns war der Besuch ein absolutes Highlight.

Kleiner Tipp am Rande: Aufgrund des großen Erfolgs wurde die Ausstellung noch bis zum 22. März 2026 verlängert! Ein Besuch lohnt sich definitiv. 😉

We were delighted by the huge interest in our research!

The NeuroSense Lab was excited to present its research at the PhD Days on July 8th and 9th in Erlangen. We especially appreciated the inspiring exchange with fellow students and supervisors — particularly with colleagues from the Chair of Aroma and Smell Research in Erlangen and from Fraunhofer Institute for Process Engineering and Packaging IVV 👏 Exciting research is being done — work that truly has the potential to improve our daily lives.

We were thrilled to attend the AChemS - Association for Chemoreception Sciences #2025 in beautiful , and to be part of such a vibrant exchange with colleagues and international researchers in the field of .
A special highlight for us:
🔹 Doris Schicker from Fraunhofer Institute for Process Engineering and Packaging IVV gave an insightful talk on „FROM WOODY TO FRUITY: Leveraging Substructural Features for Odor Prediction of Complex Mixtures“
as part of the Odor Quality Prediction symposium, organized by Jessica B. and Casey Trimmer.
🔹 Sally Arnhardt from the Department of Psychiatry and Psychotherapy, Universitätsklinikum Erlangen | FAU Erlangen-Nürnberg presented her research on „COLOR-MODULATED OLFACTORY TESTING: An Innovative Tool for Early Detection of Cognitive Decline“ in the Olfactory Dysfunction poster session.
We are truly grateful for the inspiring conversations, knowledge exchange, and the warm community spirit throughout the conference. Looking forward to many more collaborations and continued scientific dialogue!

Exciting Days at the Fraunhofer IVV Doctoral Seminar! 🎓🔬

From January 29th to 31st, the Fraunhofer IVV in Freising hosted a fantastic Doctoral Seminar, bringing together young researchers for inspiring discussions and valuable exchanges. 🚀

Moritz Engelhardt, Sally Arnhardt and Helena Althammer presented their latest research, sparking insightful conversations. Beyond the presentations, the seminar was a great opportunity to connect with fellow PhD candidates, share ideas, and network in a collaborative atmosphere.
