From the philosophical foundations of intelligent systems to human-centered robotics, mental health, economic transformation, legal challenges, and the ethical perspectives of the Pope, this conference brings together disciplines that are too often discussed separately.

At a time when AI is transforming science, economies, and societies worldwide, interdisciplinary dialogue is more important than ever.

🚀 , PHD GROUP 2

Another exciting start to a shared academic journey: Last week, we welcomed Group 2 of the PhD Program in Innovation Leadership, conducted in cooperation with Otto-Friedrich-Universität Bamberg, for their first online kick-off colloquium. 🌟

The new group brings together professionals from different backgrounds, disciplines, and perspectives – united by a shared interest in understanding and shaping innovation and leadership in a changing world.

At the heart of the program is the connection between academic research, interdisciplinary exchange, and practical relevance. The colloquia provide a space to develop research ideas, critically discuss different perspectives, and continuously advance the individual PhD projects within an international academic community.

– Regular academic exchange and interdisciplinary dialogue
– Structured guidance and close supervision throughout the PhD journey
– Connecting individual research with broader questions of innovation, leadership, business, and society
– Building an international network for knowledge exchange and collaboration

🌍 From knowledge to action – connecting global perspectives on climate resilience.

On October 6–7, 2026, the University of Manchester symposium “From Knowledge to Action: Transforming Higher Education for Climate Resilience” brought together colleagues from around the world. We enjoyed meeting so many inspiring people and exchanging perspectives on how higher education can support meaningful action. 🤝

🎤 Prof. Dr. Stefanie Kisgen, CEO of AME ECH & SIBE, presented “Reflective Transfer Through Leadership Education in Higher Education: Real-world Innovation Projects for Climate Resilience”.

Her key message: Leadership education in higher education contributes to climate resilience when students do more than understand change. It should enable them to translate theoretical knowledge into responsible and ethical action in unfamiliar, open-ended real-world contexts. By practicing how to lead innovation and change and reflecting on the consequences of their actions, students learn to apply what they have learned in new contexts – contributing positively to nature, climate resilience, society and organizations. 🌱

Thank you to Prof. Dr. Walter Leal Filho, Prof. Dr. Juup Stelma and Prof. Dr. Jen O’Brien for their valuable insights, and to Dr. Heather Alberro for moderating the session.

For many organizations, the challenge is no longer understanding that AI matters. It is identifying where it can actually make a difference – and turning that opportunity into a concrete initiative.

That is exactly what our Professional Certificate in Applied AI & Quantum Computing is designed for.
Starting in January 2027, participants will spend ten focused weeks combining expert-led knowledge with practical application. Alongside live online sessions on AI, Agentic AI and Quantum Computing, each participant develops an individual use case for their own organization – supported by individual coaching.

The goal: move from emerging technology to real business value.

The Professional Certificate brings together current perspectives from research and technological development with questions arising from organizational practice. It provides a structured setting in which participants can examine the potential of AI, Agentic AI and Quantum Computing in relation to their own institutional and professional contexts.

A particular focus lies on the translation of technological developments into concrete fields of application. Participants work on an individual use case, critically assess its technological and organizational implications, and develop a pathway towards implementation.

In this way, the program contributes to the transfer of knowledge between research and practice – and to a more informed understanding of where emerging technologies can create meaningful and sustainable value.

Our researchers, pursuing their doctorates in cooperation with the University of Bamberg, came together for an inspiring PhD seminar in Herrenberg.
The seminar provided valuable time to step out of the day-to-day routine and focus on what matters in the PhD journey: discussing research projects, exchanging experiences, challenging ideas, giving feedback, and learning from one another.

From research methodologies and publishing to collaboration, synergies, and the next steps in the individual PhD projects, the days were filled with insightful discussions and new perspectives.

A big thank you to everyone who presented, contributed, shared their experiences, and made these days both productive and genuinely enjoyable. 🙌
We’re taking home lots of new ideas, fresh motivation, and great memories — this is what a strong research community looks like! 🚀

How can Europe strengthen its digital sovereignty while ensuring that artificial intelligence remains secure and trustworthy?

This question will take centre stage on September 23, 2026, when the European Academy of Sciences and Arts (EASA) contributes to the workshop “Digital Resilience and Artificial Intelligence” at INFORMATIK2026, the annual conference of the German Informatics Society.

We are pleased to be represented at this workshop and to contribute to this timely exchange on some of the key challenges shaping Europe’s digital future.

Building Bridges in European Academia 🎓🇪🇺

In the spirit of the Alma Mater Alliance, Alma Mater Europaea - ECH was honored to be invited to the “Vasile Goldiș” Western University of Arad (UVVG) on the occasion of the Graduation Ceremony of the Medical Faculties.

The visit provided a valuable opportunity to discuss future cooperation, joint initiatives, and new ways of further strengthening the Alma Mater Alliance and academic collaboration across Europe.

Dr. Anna-Vanadis Faix attended the celebrations together with Prof. Dr. Felix Unger, Honorary President and Founder of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts, and his wonderful wife and talented artists Monika Fioreschy.

We would like to express our sincere gratitude to UVVG and our hosts for their exceptionally warm welcome, generous hospitality, and inspiring exchange.

We look forward to developing these connections further and to a fruitful and meaningful collaboration between our institutions.

🧠 Leibniz in Dialogue with the Questions of Our Time

Last week, the conference “Leibniz und …” brought together distinguished scholars from a wide range of disciplines at the TUM Science and Study Center Raitenhaslach in Burghausen.

💡 The exceptionally high-level programme demonstrated both the remarkable breadth and the enduring relevance of Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz’s thought. Discussions ranged from logic, mathematics and artificial intelligence to medicine and health data, as well as the structures, future and excellence of science and research.

🎓 Renowned scholars including Michael Molls, Sybille Krämer, Ursula Goldenbaum, Axel Haverich, Wilhelm Vossenkuhl and Klaus Mainzer, alongside other leading experts, contributed their perspectives and created a stimulating dialogue across disciplinary boundaries.

🔬 It was precisely this encounter between philosophy, science, medicine and technology that made the conference so special. Three days of insightful lectures, lively discussions and intellectual exchange demonstrated how Leibniz’s ideas continue to provide inspiration for some of the most pressing scientific and philosophical questions of our time.
