IBC alumni might remember this sentence:
“PowerPoint slides are not a strategy.”
When learning goes both ways.
After more than 30 years at Hochschule Offenburg, Professor Fischer is entering retirement.
For 26 of those years, he played a central role in building and shaping the International Business Consulting (IBC) program — and the community that grew around it.
Many alumni will remember his lectures for the lively discussions, the thoughtful questions, and the occasional remark that stayed with you long after class.
But what he valued most were the moments when everything simply worked — great students, fascinating discussions, and lectures where ideas seemed to unfold naturally.
For Professor Fischer, teaching was never a one-way street.
Again and again, students brought forward ideas that were new to him — sometimes surprising, sometimes challenging, but always enriching the conversation. A reminder that the best classrooms are places where everyone learns from each other.
Colleagues remember that same spirit. As Alexandra from the IBC program office said:
“There was not one single boring day. He was full of ideas and commitment to the program and to the people working for it.”
Now a new chapter begins.
More time for mountain biking, hiking, and climbing — and enjoying the occasional perfect espresso in South Tyrol.
Thank you, Professor Fischer, for more than three decades of curiosity, conversations, and inspiration. Your impact will continue in the many students and colleagues whose paths you shaped along the way.
