Since Russia’s full-scale invasion in 2022, Ukrainian cities are regularly targeted by missiles, drones, and shelling. When air raid sirens sound, everyone -including very young children - must go to shelters immediately.
Frequent power cuts caused by attacks on energy infrastructure further disrupt daily life, including schooling.
In a recent survey, conducted in March-April 2026, our fellow Iana Selikova (Глухівський національний педагогічний університет імені Олександра Довженка) asked parents of preschool children from several regions of Ukraine, how their children react on power outages and the necessity to stay in shelters.
