Our next story comes from Cynthia from Ghana. For Cynthia, EDU_MIG has been a journey of broadening perspectives on education, migration, and diversity through different European contexts and lived experiences.

The programme strengthened her academic research and critical thinking skills, and helped her connect theoretical concepts with real-life educational challenges. One of her biggest lessons: education cannot be understood separately from society, culture, migration, and people’s stories.

Cynthia’s advice to future students: stay open to new ideas, even when they challenge what you already believe. Ask questions, learn from both professors and classmates, and connect what you learn to the real world, that’s what makes the journey truly meaningful.

In this series, our students share how the programme has influenced their learning, projects, and future plans. Through their own words, we want to show what one year in Edu_Mig can look like: new academic challenges, mobility experiences, research, and personal growth.

The next story: Amina from Kazakhstan, who reflects on resilience, critical thinking, research, and key lessons from the first year. This post is a small glimpse into how our students navigate a new academic environment, build connections, and start shaping their own paths in education and beyond.

More student stories will follow in the coming weeks. Follow us to hear more voices from our cohort and to stay updated about the next application cycle.

Our next story comes from Roj from the Philippines. For Roj, EDU_MIG has been more than a master’s programme — it has been a safe space to share advocacies, stay informed, and turn passion into action.
Between independent living, new academic systems, and even kitchen experiments, Roj discovered new talents and a deeper sense of purpose. Being selected as one of the Philippine representatives for the ASEAN Foundation’s youth programme in Thailand and Laos further showed how regional impact, like cooking, is about blending perspectives and nourishing communities.
Roj’s advice to future students is simple and bold: be unapologetically yourself, embrace your uniqueness, and leave your own distinct mark on the world.

Our next story comes from Omar from Bosnia and Herzegovina. For Omar, EDU_MIG has been a space for both personal and professional growth — a journey that taught him that some lessons only time can give.

The programme supported him in finding his voice as a researcher and scholar, while also becoming more introspective and aware of the areas he wants to develop. Along the way, he published his first research paper, deepened his knowledge of education and migration, learned new research methods, attended a conference in Budapest, and built meaningful connections with people from around the world.

Omar’s key insight: be open to new perspectives, stay curious rather than judgmental, and let diverse experiences teach you far beyond the classroom.

His advice to future students: take each day and challenge as it comes, trust that you were chosen for a reason, and use your different backgrounds to uplift one another. With a supportive community, even the hardest days become manageable.

Our next story comes from Emre from Türkiye. For Emre, EDU_MIG has been a journey across multiple academic fields, institutions, and countries — one that broadened both academic horizons and personal understanding of identity, belonging, and inclusion.

Through summer schools, research programmes, media labs, and a role as EDU_MIG Programme Representative, Emre connected academic interests with a clear vision: contributing to a more inclusive, diverse, and accessible Europe.

Emre’s advice to future students: take the first step — apply, join, attend, send the email. Put yourself in rooms where you can learn from others. You don’t need to know exactly where the journey will lead; sometimes you just need to give yourself the chance to find out.

Ifechukwu’s Edu_Mig year wasn’t just about earning a degree, it was about learning to thrive in the unknown.

Her Edu_Mig journey meant adapting to new academic systems, exploring different cultures, and even picking up German along the way. But beyond the logistics, it was about building resilience, expanding horizons, and forging connections that last.

The biggest win? Realizing that growth happens outside comfort zones, and that peers often teach as much as professors.

In this post, Ifechukwu shares key milestones, personal breakthroughs, and honest advice for future students: embrace the uncertainty, ask questions fearlessly, and turn your cohort into your community.

This time, we hear from a student from Türkiye, whose journey in Edu_Mig has been shaped by curiosity, care, and resilience. The programme deepened their understanding of migration and changed how they approach people’s stories, especially those of displacement and survival. Through mobility across three countries, an internship at the Refugee Council of Lithuania, and continuous language learning, their international profile has grown and opened new collaborations with professionals and NGOs. Beyond academics, the biggest lesson has been about connection: how fellow students became a quiet but powerful support system during difficult times. Their advice to future students: don’t let other people’s doubts become your own. Say yes to opportunities that stretch your comfort zone, and trust that you are capable of more than you think.
