UMAB
The University of Mostaganem - Abdelhamid Ibn Badis (UMAB) is a public and multidisciplinary university based in Mostaganem City, north-west of Algeria. It was founded in 1978 and is one of the ten most important universities in Algeria with a student population of nearly 30,000 and 1100 teaching staff.
The university has 21 research laboratories focusing on biology, environment, material sciences, civil engineering…etc. More than one hundred scientific research projects are ongoing within different national and international research conventions.
Concerning international cooperation and academic exchange, the university is well related to national and international partners with whom it organizes several Master degrees in different areas, as research agreements and doctoral colleges.
One of the objectives of UMAB is to encourage researches on environmental issues and to acquire the “know-how” on the existing global climate challenge in order to constitute national leadership on these issues. Environmental sciences represent one of the main areas in the strategic plan of development of UMAB.
Our university intends to further strengthen its international profile by increasing the number of excellent joint programs in order to ensure that Algerian’s achievements in high education and scientific research are globally recognized.
Furthermore, UMAB has been involved in several Tempus and Erasmus+ programs relevant to this project mainly: the project consortium “CLIMADAPT- 53065-TEMPUS-1-2012-1-MA-TEMPUS-JPCR” leading to a master’s degree ”Building Capacity Adaptation to Climate Change” has been accredited by the ministry of higher education.
