College In Brief Faculty of Arts was established in Alexandria in the academic year 38/1939 and was a subsidiary of FOUAD I University (now Cairo University), and then issued a decree establishing the University of Farouk I in 1942 became the first Faculty of Arts Faculty of a university in Alexandria. Faculty of Arts is based on two bases: first, a linguistic, literary studies, and the second base of the social sciences. Over the past half-century has seen the total multiple stages of development in various disciplines, which helped to introduce innovative and diversified courses to study in some sections and made college a long way in its bid scientific and research, especially after it settled the land in its current location within the plan Shatby Engineering University, which carried Name (Alexandria University) after the revolution of July 23, 1952. It should be noted that the College of Arts, which is on the path of evolution, introduced a computer system in a stand-alone unit to monitor the results of examinations and store student data into account to achieve maximum precision and order, one of the pioneering experiences at the University of Alexandria that were not in the universities of Egypt as a whole, which has been hailed by Council of the University of Alexandria in July 1991, and called for the circulation in the rest of the university colleges, which called for the introduction of computers currently in some branches of study. Did not stop development of the College on the scientific and academic aspects, but beyond that to other specialized centers such as the Center for teaching Arabic to foreigners and the Center for the Blind of our college and university, as well as the many contributions in the activities of the Center for Public Service. School's interest is also reflected deep treasures of Ancient Egypt in the establishment of a private museum in 1945, this museum is the embodiment of what the College's leading role in the detection and exploration of Egyptian antiquities mission in various parts of Egypt, and the College is developed and updated. The College was established as the administrative building and library of modern art systems development and technical assistance to increase the classroom and keep up with education systems and increasing numbers of students and researchers. College is still and will continue to seek early the development and modernization, expansion and introduction of all new useful as keep pace with human civilization, fits between the different disciplines and the needs of modern society on the other. The school was the forerunner in the establishment of a unique scientific sections such as: anthropology and studies voice and Drama Studies, as well as in the establishment of higher institutes, such as the Institute of Social Sciences, the Institute of Linguistics, Institute of Oriental Languages, the Institute for Mediterranean Studies.
