From Theoretical Knowledge to Practical Application… Interactive Training on Choking Management for Medical Laboratory Technology Students
As part of the Faculty of Applied Health Sciences Technology at Mansoura National University’s commitment to developing teaching and learning strategies and enhancing students’ practical skills, second-level students in the Medical Laboratory Technology Program conducted a training activity as part of the First Aid course. The activity focused on choking management techniques and the initial measures required to manage airway obstruction caused by a foreign body.
The activity included training students in the fundamental techniques used to manage choking cases according to the patient’s age group.
The training focused on developing students’ ability to assess the severity of airway obstruction, select the appropriate intervention based on the patient’s age and condition, and identify the correct procedures that contribute to a prompt response in emergency situations.
This activity reflects the Faculty’s commitment to promoting practical learning and integrating academic knowledge with the essential skills required to manage emergencies, thereby contributing to the preparation of students who possess the awareness and ability to respond appropriately in situations requiring rapid intervention.
Prof. Dr. Rasha Mohamed Fathy, Dean of the Faculty, emphasized that practical training in first aid skills is a fundamental pillar in preparing health sciences students. She highlighted the importance of equipping students with the ability to assess emergency situations promptly and select appropriate intervention techniques in accordance with scientific principles and approved guidelines. She also stressed the Faculty’s commitment to implementing practical learning strategies that develop students’ hands-on skills and enhance their readiness to respond to emergencies with competence and responsibility.
