Please Help Abrha Haftu Continue His Fight Against Colonic Cancer

We are reaching out to ask for your kind support for Abrha Haftu, who is currently battling Colonic cancer.

He underwent a hemicolectomy and completed 6 cycle of chemotherapy. He was stable and Currently he had abdominal distention. he was investigated with CT scan and pertionieal fluid analsis, the result suggestive of recurrence. He is now under drainage tube and to continue another cycle of chemotherapy. Requiring ongoing medical care, chemotherapy, medications, laboratory investigations.

The treatment has placed a significant financial burden on Abrha and his family. The costs of chemotherapy, medications, investigations, transportation, nutrition, and other necessary medical expenses are becoming increasingly difficult to manage.

Every contribution, no matter how small, can make a meaningful difference and help Abrha continue his cancer treatment.

Dear Friends, Colleagues, and Members of TMA,As you all know, we are deeply saddened and devastated by the passing of our beloved friend, colleague, and acquaintance, Dr. Tsegay Gebreanenia. This is a painful reality that many of us are still struggling to comprehend and process.

Beyond being brilliant and exemplary at his job, he was a true friend to many of us. To support Dr. Tsegay’s family through this unimaginably difficult time, we have set up a memorial fund. All donations made through TMA will go directly toward assisting his family through his father's account.

The Tigray Medical Association extends its heartfelt condolences to the family, relatives, friends, and colleagues of the late Dr. Tsegaye Gebre Anenia.

Dr. Tsegaye was an Ayder Hospital graduate and a Specialist in Critical and Emergency Care. At Alert Comprehensive Specialized Hospital, he served in leadership and other professional responsibilities, and at Abet Hospital he was serving as the Head during the time of his death.

May his soul rest in peace.

Tigray Medical Association (TMA) has elected Dr. Bereket Mengesteab as its Digital Health Lead. He is a co-founder of Lamed Digital Health and a general practitioner at Ayder Referral Hospital.

Digital health is one of the standing committees in the association. This appointment aligns with TMA’s efforts to advance digital health in the region, including plans to implement key components such as electronic health records, telemedicine, mHealth tools, wearable technologies, AI-supported analytics, digital information systems. The move supports broader goals of improving healthcare access and innovation in Tigray.
