The annual Karl A. Lamers Peace Prize Contest is over again, and the results are very encouraging. This time, all three prizes were won by students of the EIBL program! First Prize (1000 Euros) went to Ivanna Horaichuk, the Second place prize (600 Euros) went to Vladimir Komarnickiy, and the Third Prize (400 Euros) was awarded to Marita Gorgiladze. Karl A. Lamers made personal phone calls to the winners to congratulate them with their accomplishment.

Prof. h.c. Dr. Karl A. Lamers is an influential German politician, formerly a veteran member of the German Bundestag and a member of the Defence Committee of the Bundestag, also former President of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly. Dr. Lamers is also an honorary doctor of MRU. In 2018, Karl A. Lamers initiated the Peace Foundation that carries his name. The Foundation sponsors contests of university student essays on security and defence issues in different EU countries. In Lithuania, the contest takes place at the MRU for the 4th year in a row, and in all competitions, students from EIBL Program were among the winners of this prestigious prize: Ana Šurpickaja (1st Prize in 2019), Rimvydas Pekauskas (3rd Prize in 2020), as well as Veronika Horchakova (1st Prize in 2021).
