🎂 Happy 140th Birthday to us! 🎓

Today marks the 140th anniversary of Bangor University, celebrating 140 years of academic excellence, world leading research and transformative student experiences. 🎉

The College found its first home in the old Penrhyn Arms Hotel, an old coaching inn leased from the Penrhyn Estate. On the 18th October 1884, with the words ‘Knowledge is Power’ above its main entrance, the University College of North Wales was officially opened. 🙌

The staff in its first session consisted of the Principal, five Professors, three Lecturers and two assistant Lecturers, with 58 registered students. 🏫

Today, over 11,000 students study here and our world-leading research is seeking solutions to some of society’s most challenging problems – from identifying low carbon energy solutions to advancing the global 5G economy! 🌎
