What a day! 🌈

Huge thanks to Rockwater Hove for having Debutots along for their Family Festival. Rainbow Rangers came out to play and the energy from all the little ones was just magic! ✨

It was brilliant sharing the day with all the other entertainers - such a joy!

Someone said to me the other day:

“Debutots all sounds very nice… but what is it you actually DO?!”

Fair question. So here’s the honest answer 👇

We take a story, break it right down - characters, world, challenges, heart - then hand the pieces to the children and let them rebuild it themselves.

Through drama games, improv and dialogue-building, they create a safe space to collaborate with real confidence. No pressure to get it “right” - just permission to imagine, try and build something together.

The result? Wonderful, wild new versions of stories and performances that the children remember long after the session ends.

This is what that looks like before the magic starts. 🎭✨

This week one of our youngest Debutots stars marched straight up mid-session and asked, all by himself, “Can we do Bananaphone?”

No prompting. No adult suggesting it. Just a child who felt safe enough, confident enough and excited enough to ask for exactly what he wanted.

That’s the whole philosophy of Debutots in one moment - sessions that are child-led, not adult-directed. We give the structure; they bring the joy.

One of our favourite moments from our recent video shoot - Emma showing exactly what we hope the kids take away from Debutots: that wobbling, getting it wrong and trying again is the whole point. Not something to hide from, but something to celebrate.

Summer Holiday Club is running from 10th to 14th August, 9.30am to 12.30pm at Aldrington C of E Primary School, Hove for ages 4–8. A full week of performing arts, imagination, and (plenty of) glorious mistakes. Choose your days.

Thanks to all of the grown ups who bring their children to our classes every week. We believe absolutely in the power of imagination and play to build children’s confidence and develop their skills for life around self-expression, not to forget active listening.
It’s even nicer to hear mums, dads, carers, teachers and grandparents tell us how much our sessions are of interest.
