Meet Steph Coates, who studied Access to Higher Education Nursing and Health Professions. The course Steph studied is available to study in Sudbury and Bury St Edmunds.

"At the age of 24, I had been thinking of going back to education for a while before enrolling on the Access course. I had completed an apprenticeship when I left school at 16 but I decided that I was seeking a change and I didn't know how. I decided I wanted to go to university, but I had no idea how I could get the qualifications to get in. That's when I discovered the Access course. As someone who struggled socially and mentally at school, I never believed that going back to education was going to be an option."

"However, I took a leap of faith and signed up for the Health Professions Access to HE, and I will be forever glad I did. To begin with, I doubted I'd even get through the first term as I had many changes occurring in my life outside of education. However, with the support of my tutors and the college, I have seen my confidence boost so much, and I've even made some friends for life on the course."

"Now I have completed the Access course I am starting university in September, studying Adult Nursing at the University of East Anglia. If you had told 16-year-old me I'd be going to university in my mid-20s I'd have laughed at you, yet here I am today! I would absolutely recommend the course, there is so much support and guidance, and the pride you feel to say, "I did it!" is like no other."

Meet Daisy Gardiner, Access to Nursing and Health Professions student. The course Daisy studied is available to study in Sudbury and Bury St Edmunds.

"I have thoroughly enjoyed my time studying Access to Higher Education Nursing & Health Professions at West Suffolk College. It was initially very daunting going back into education after such a long time, especially with two young children, however right from the start the tutors put me at ease. It has been challenging at times but with the constant support from all the tutors, they have made it much less stressful and enabled me to reach the end goal!

"My next adventure is to seek employment as a health care assistant in a local hospital on a Midwifery ward. I'm using that as an opportunity to gain experience before applying to university to study Midwifery.

"I will always be eternally grateful to all the tutors on the Access course that have taught and supported me during my time at West Suffolk College. I honestly believe without every one of them I wouldn't have made it where I am today, so thank you!"

Dr Nikos Savvas, CEO of the Eastern Colleges Group incorporating West Suffolk College, Abbeygate and One Sixth Form Colleges and University Studies at West Suffolk College, said: "We will remember Queen Elizabeth for her life of service and her commitment to her country - she was an extraordinary public servant during her 70 year reign.
