I am seeking a graduate-level pianist (or advanced undergraduate) to prepare and record my cycle Four Piano Miniatures in Four Flats (approx. 15–20 minutes). The set explores a unified motivic language across four contrasting movements, ranging from an Andante barcarolle with shifting meters to a virtuosic Presto scherzo, a passionate Appassionato, and a final Andante with Agitato middle that synthesizes the cycle’s themes.

This is a paid project: I am offering £500 compensation for rehearsal and performance time. Recording costs (venue hire, engineer, audio/video production) will be covered separately by me — the pianist will not be asked to absorb these expenses.

The works are written with idiomatic piano textures, offering both technical challenge and musical depth, and are suitable for recital programming as well as competition submissions.

Scores (PDF) and reference materials are available immediately on request.

***Applications close at 23:59 on 15 August 2025***

The Foundation Programme of London-based orchestra Orpheus Sinfonia is now accepting applications from composers for the 2025-2026 season.

Running a range of ambitious projects, our third year of the Orpheus Sinfonia Foundation Programme will give opportunity to 36 instrumentalists, soloists, conductors, opera singers and composers who have completed full-time study since 2023. As well as paid work preparing for and performing in up to four orchestral concerts in London and the surrounding areas, as well as further opportunities, participants will be supported by wraparound advancement sessions each season, with mentoring from core Orpheus members and eminent industry professionals. The Foundation Programme will establish a lasting space in which emerging professionals can explore and develop future livelihoods. Following the Foundation Programme, participants will then progress into the broader work portfolio of Orpheus Sinfonia.

Applications for the Foundation Programme are open NOW for composers.

https://www.orpheusfoundation.com/about/auditions/foundation-composers/

It is open to composers who have completed studies (degree / fellowship / training academy) in the last two years, i.e. since 2023. The selected composer will be invited to write a 10-minute orchestral concert work, to be premiered on 25th June 2026 at the OSFP Season Finale concert. Around this the selected composer is mentored throughout the season, and advancement sessions are offered giving insight into the industry. Subsequently there are opportunities to consider pathways into Orpheus Sinfonia's programme of work.

Orpheus Sinfonia's signature Foundation Programme provides invaluable performance and mentoring opportunities to the musicians of tomorrow.
