MIA School of Race Engineering This page is about the MIA School of Race Engineering that is run every year by the Motorsport Industry Association.

The MIA School of Race Engineering is an interactive course which bridges the gap between general Motorsport engineering and becoming the Race Engineers of tomorrow. Taught by current leading Race Engineers in Formula 1, WEC, BTCC and Indycar you will learn the latest technologies and will benefit from their real-world trackside experiences. The MIA School of Race Engineering is held every Spring

and Autumn which includes 32 hours of teaching and networking. In addition we host monthly online modules which focus on specific motorsport disciplines, such as Race Strategy, Vehicle Simulation and Data Analysis. To learn more about the MIA please visit https://www.schoolofraceengineering.co.uk/

Class of April-May 2026! 🏁

Earlier this month, we welcomed students and 15+ expert tutors from across multiple motorsport series to the MIA School of Race Engineering. Over two intensive weekends, students gained invaluable knowledge, built meaningful connections, and learned directly from industry professionals.

A special thank you to our tutors for supporting our programme and to Silverstone Museum for hosting us 🏎️

We look forward to following the progress of our graduates as they go on to develop their motorsport careers!

We’re excited to welcome Edouard Bissen back as a tutor for our Racecar Aerodynamics online module!

Edouard began his career as a GT4 Race Engineer in 2016 before earning a PhD in Fluid Mechanics. He transitioned into Formula 1 in 2019, working in aerodynamics at Haas F1 Team. In 2023, he joined Oracle Red Bull Racing as an Aero Performance Engineer. 📊

Students are working with Race Engineer Geoff Dymott and Racing Driver Will Martin to analyse data and suggest set-up changes to hopefully improve Will’s lap time! ⏱️

Welcome to the second weekend of our 4 Day School!

Day 3 was packed with hands-on learning and expert insights, which included:

🔹 Students explored the different types of transmissions and differentials used in racing.
🔹 Discovered the key sensors on a race car, how they function, and tips for spotting issues in the data to ensure accurate measurements.
🔹 Understood the importance of the race car’s suspension and how this impacts Vehicle Dynamics.

We also had our pre-dinner drinks reception, giving students the chance to network with tutors in a relaxed environment.

The day ended on a high note with a fantastic dinner at the Escapade in Silverstone.
