RGU Lacrosse

RGU Lacrosse Lacrosse RGU Lacrosse was founded in 2014 by Sierra Peters-Buckland and Ali Mackenzie. It was also our first all RGU team.

The club started by training with Aberdeen City Lacrosse Club on Wednesday evenings. We had just over 20 members of which less than a handful had previous lacrosse experience. With the help of Aberdeen City members we trained up beginners to game level and began entering a co Aberdeen City/RGU team into the Lacrosse Scotland League on Saturdays. After a successful year we decided to schedule a Gra

nite City game against Aberdeen Uni. This would make it the first time lacrosse had ever been played in the Granite City Challenge. Although a loss of 3-12 to Aberdeen Uni it was a phenomenal game. The level of lacrosse skills from a team fielded of mainly 1st year players was impressive. Our committee worked hard the first year and fundraised over £200 and secured a £750 sponsorship with Chiquitos. We were also very happy to win New Club of the Year 2014/2015.

Our mens team have been growing some majestic but mostly awful facial hair for Movember. We're still a bit behind target but hopefully these progress pictures will sway you to donate.

Our president has also said she will walk from Aberdeen to Montrose if we meet our target (which we very much want to see) which should act as an extra sweetener to donate to a great cause through the link below,

hi, we are and we are calling because we believe we are stronger as a team when everyone is enjoying themselves and do not feel forced into situations they are uncomfortable with. We want to make sure everyone feels included, so they can grow as a person themselves and within the team, and we believe initiations are counter intuitive to this and have a detrimental effect on mental health. We want our training and social to be a safe space for all. 💜

Our Story

RGU Lacrosse was founded in 2014 by Sierra Peters-Buckland and Ali Mackenzie. The club started by training with Aberdeen City Lacrosse Club. We had just over 20 members of which less than a handful had previous lacrosse experience. With the help of Aberdeen City members we trained up beginners to game level and began entering a co Aberdeen City/RGU team into the Lacrosse Scotland Mixed League. Also winning New Club of the Year 2014/2015.

Since then, the team has grown in numbers and success with the partnership of Aberdeen City Lacrosse, securing silverware in both a mens and mixed final four tournament. With the disolvement of the Mixed League, we have taken in the Aberdeen City players to create a combined University and Community team playing under the RGU Lacrosse name. This has allowed us to keep offering a place for non-university members and alumni to stay/get involved with the sport and help grow the Lacrosse community in Aberdeen.

If you want to try the sport out (for free) then we have two training slots available:

  • Monday 8:30pm-10pm @ Rubislaw Hocky Pitch
